Many fans and former houseguests are disappointed with David Alexander on Big Brother Canada 2, where she ended up in 12th place. She then returned to the competition on season 5, where she went much further and placed 4th. As a notorious houseguest from the Canadian edition of the show, Ika is known for providing occasional commentary regarding the ongoing American seasons as well.
When the cast was announced, the fans were happy to see BB21's David getting a second shot at playing the game. Last year, David was the first houseguest to be evicted... setting in motion a very problematic narrative that the dominant alliance cultivated throughout the season. People of color and other minorities were disproportionally targeted in the season, and the fans wanted to see what David could do in a house where he actually got the chance to play. Three weeks later, however, the fans and former contestants of Big Brother are starting to lose trust and hope.
Ika Wong is the latest former Big Brother houseguest to give the fans her two cents about David Alexander being on this season. Throughout the season, she has taken to social media to share her opinions on occasion. This week, many former players were disappointed with David exposing Tyler's game to Bayleigh and Da'Vonne, all while also losing their trust in the process. These lose/lose game moves from David are starting to irritate some of the pros who have played this game well before... and Ika Wong is one of them. This week, she said the following on Twitter: "Davis is there because they needed a black guy.... and I guess any black would do. He truly does not to be on an all stars season." This statement calls out not only David's sloppy gameplay but also CBS' decision to cast him as the male representative for the Black community on the show.
There's still plenty of time for David to turn things around on BB22. He is not a target for anyone in the house, having already proven that he doesn't have a good grasp of how the game works. With that said, there is little indication that David is actually willing to listen to advice and actively work on becoming a better player. He entered this house without watching basically any season of Big Brother... which is indicative of the way he intended to compete for the second time.
All-Stars will move forward, and chances are that David will survive for quite some time as an associate of the dominant alliances. Unfortunately, BB fans and alumni are starting to lose trust that he can turn things around and be a power player in the house.
Big Brother 22: All-Stars airs Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8pm EST on CBS.
