10 Coach Steve Stayed In Human Resources For Too Long

Coach Steve smiling in Big Mouth

When the kids of Big Mouth are taken to the hormone monsters’ human resources department, they’re warned about staying there for too long, because it could mess up their development. It’s possible that Coach Steve’s characterization as an immature kid in a grown man’s body is a result of being in human resources for too long. Maybe when the hormone monsters warn the kids about staying in human resources for too long, they’re warning them about the ominous possibility of becoming Coach Steve.

9 The Masked Principal Really Is Roman Polanski

The masked principal in Big Mouth

The Masked Principal, who took over the role of principal of Bridgeton Middle School after Principal Barron retired, is a spoof of the reality show The Masked Singer. The show has never revealed his true identity. There have been hints that the Masked Principal is Paula Abdul, Suge Knight, Cathy Lee Gifford, or Katherine Heigl, but the principal may have already revealed who they are. In season 4, episode 10, “What Are You Gonna Do?,” the Masked Principal claimed to be Roman Polanski. Season 8 could reveal that this is true.

8 Old Andrew Will Save Nick From New Andrew

Nick talking to Andrew and Jessi in Big Mouth

When Nick and Andrew went to separate high schools in Big Mouth season 7, Nick found a new best friend who has been dubbed “New Andrew.” Nick’s burgeoning friendship with the new Andrew is the cliffhanger ending of the whole season. There’s a theory that the new Andrew isn’t as cool as he seems, and might actually end up being even worse than the old Andrew. This would mean that the old Andrew has to swoop in and save Nick from the new Andrew.

7 The Big Mouth Kids Will All Find Happiness In High School

Jay looking on with Nick and Andrew in Big Mouth-1

In Big Mouth season 7, the kids finally graduated from middle school and started their high school education. As Jessi pointed out in season 7, episode 5, “Graduation,” the entire series has been built around the observation that middle school is the worst time in people’s lives, thanks to the hormonal confusion and immature classmates. In high school, when they’re a little bit older and more mature, these kids can finally find true happiness. (Of course, such a happy ending seems a bit out of character for this show.)

6 Jessi’s Vaping Addiction Will Become A Major Problem

Jessi and Nick as drug buddies in Big Mouth

Big Mouth season 7 saw Jessi getting hooked on vaping. As with many issues addressed on the show, vape addiction is a big problem amongst modern teenagers. It’s considered to be a healthier alternative to smoking, but it’s still a dangerous habit. The writers wouldn’t have set up Jessi’s vaping addiction if they weren’t planning to follow up on it in season 8. They’ll need to address the vaping problem in a tongue-in-cheek way to avoid feeling like an after-school special.

5 Jay And Lola Have The Same Dad

Jay and Lola fight on Big Mouth.

Lola tried to identify her absentee father in season 6, episode 7, “Dadda Dia!,” but she came to a dead end and still doesn’t know who her dad is. Since she used to date Jay, it would be delightfully twisted for Big Mouth season 8 to reveal that Lola’s dad is actually Jay’s own terrible father, Guy Bilzerian. Incest is one of the last taboos that Big Mouth has yet to address, and giving Jay and Lola the same father would be a great way to explore that. The fact that season 7 had Lola dating Jay’s brother would make this twist reveal even more shocking.

4 Homeschooling Won’t Go Well For Missy

Missy talking to Mirror Missy in Big Mouth

The homeschooling storyline set up for Missy in season 7 will surely end badly in season 8. It seems like a prime opportunity for the Big Mouth writers to satirize homeschooling. Missy is far from the most confident character in the Big Mouth cast, but she enjoys being around other kids and going to school with her friends. She will surely hate being homeschooled and insist on going back to high school.

3 Nick Will Finally Hit Puberty

Nick Birch looking heartbroken in Big Mouth.

In the very first episode of Big Mouth, Nick was still waiting to start puberty while Andrew had long since begun the process of puberty. Seven seasons later, Nick still hasn’t hit puberty yet. It would bring the series full circle if Nick finally hits puberty in the final season. It might serve the running joke better if Nick still hasn’t started puberty by the end of the show, but it would provide some closure on Nick’s character arc.

2 The Entire Show Takes Place In Caleb’s Mind

Caleb playing mini golf on Big Mouth

Caleb is a minor but beloved character in the Big Mouth ensemble. He’s a member of the school’s jazz club and a member of the A.V. club with a cushy position as the cameraman for the school news. There’s a theory that the entire series is taking place inside Caleb’s mind. He already created a world where the kids have superpowers in season 3. The over-the-top visuals have always been taken as a sign that the show is set in a heightened reality, but maybe it’s just set in Caleb’s imagination. Since Caleb is socially awkward, it would explain why the awkwardness in the show is so drastically exaggerated.

1 Leore Paulblart Is The Ponytail Killer

Leore with Jessi's dad in Big Mouth

The Ponytail Killer has been a long-time villain on Big Mouth who still hasn’t appeared on-screen. He’s a notorious serial killer whose victims all have ponytails. The most likely candidate for the identity of the Ponytail Killer is Rabbi Paulblart’s adult son Leore. Leore himself has a ponytail, he’s depicted as a stereotypically creepy guy, and his unsuccessful business involves selling wigs to religious dogs. It’s possible that he’s making these dog wigs out of his victims’ hair. Whether it’s Leore or someone else, Big Mouth season 8 needs to reveal the Ponytail Killer’s true identity.
