Lovable California airheads and best buds Bill and Ted were first introduced to audiences more than thirty years ago as the two stumbled their way through history in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Following the release of the latest installment in the beloved franchise, Dark Horse has released its own totally awesome installment in the Bill and Ted mythos.

Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Theodore "Ted" Logan have been charming audiences with their time-traveling, rock-n-roll-loving, death-defying hijinks for decades. The cult movies followed the two characters as they first met historical figures to a high school history class in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and then fought evil robot versions of themselves and played Twister with Death in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. The third film in the franchise, Bill and Ted Face the Music, premiered on video on demand on August 28, 2020, providing an earnest, joyous bit of  throwback fun.

Bill And Ted Doomed

The preview features bright, cheerful art by Roger Langridge, complete with amusing details that make the pages worth a second look. The writing, by Evan Dorkin, has the same ridiculous, beachy vibe of the original films that hints at something truly fun. In the preview pages, readers get a glimpse of the story, with Rufus being warned that the existence of the utopia created by Bill and Ted may be in danger and it has something to do with their song to unite the world. The preview offers a glimpse at the new characters of Bill and Ted’s daughters, Billie and Thea, who the character’s time-displaced wives in encouraging the two in their work on the song.

The simple design and the dudey language that makes Bill and Ted so iconic is certain to please old fans and new readers of Bill and Ted are Doomed. The comic’s sense of goofiness feels almost, well, radical in comparison to the blood, guts, and horror fare that Dark Horse typically serves up. It’s no question that the new comic series is going to be excellent.
