coronavirus conspiracy candidate with many now suggesting that the Microsoft co-founder caused COVID-19. This is only one of many misinformation campaigns that have taken place recently, although it does seem to be the most prevalent in recent months.

Gates aside, one common conspiracy that’s been gaining traction in recent weeks is the suggestion that destroying cellular towers in the hope of stopping the spread. Even though some of the towers that have been destroyed were not 5G towers.

Why Do People Think Bill Gates Caused Coronavirus?

The conspiracy - or theory, depending on your perspective - stems from multiple elements, although a talk that Gates gave back in 2015 has proven particularly potent for theorists. The topic discussed in the video is the likelihood of a virus emerging with Gates honing in on details, that when looking back on, seem eerily accurate. Gates did not only point to a virus being the “greatest risk of global catastrophe,” but also highlighted some of the weak points in the current system that could prove fatal if a virus was to take effect. Again, weaknesses that appear to be very much in line with many of the criticisms that have been raised recently over the COVID-19 response.

The predictions made in the video are accurate enough that it has simply led to some making, what they believe to be, the only logical explanation - that Gates intentionally started the current pandemic. Of course, the fact that Gates also happens to be one of the richest people on the planet doesn’t help, with many automatically seeing that as means to make it happen. What is less clear from the conspiracy claims is why Gates would have unleashed coronavirus on the world in the first place? On this point, there appears to be far more uncertainty and variation with some pointing directly to Gates having developed (or planning to) a vaccine that can then be made available, with Gates evidently benefiting in the process. Then there's the claim that Gates et al want to create a super global surveillance system and are using coronavirus as the trigger moment to justify it. Others, apparently just believe Gates want to cull the population.

Regardless of what caused the pandemic, it is clear is that many are now looking to actually find something or someone to blame coronavirus on. With the increase in attention on the likes of Gates and 5G, it is evident that with so many unanswered COVID-19 questions, people are finding their own answers as to why the coronavirus outbreak has taken place, and anywhere they can.
