Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to have its massive Season 2 update on January 28th, 2025. This has been marketed as one of the biggest expansions to the game yet, with new maps, modes, and more being introduced as additional content for you to explore. From new Warzone content to never-before-seen Operators, there's so much to anticipate with Season 2's arrival.

Similar to previous event es in CoD: Black Ops 6, there will be a Battle to earn rewards from in Season 2. This Battle is huge, with nearly 100 rewards you can earn by playing. Both the free and editions of the Battle have great offerings, from three base weapons to multiple Operator Skins, Weapons Blueprints, Calling Cards, Emotes, Finishing Moves, and more.

Five Additional Areas For Warfare

There are five new maps coming in Season 2, with each bringing something different that sets them apart from existing arenas. Not every map being introduced can be played on every mode, but these new battlefields are in the rotation for many common playlists. The table below outlines all the different maps, what modes they can be seen in, and basic descriptions of each:

Each map is intricately designed, with multiple rooms and objects to use as cover while fighting enemy teams. Each map, except for Grind, has some sort of connection to the new Rogue team story and the Operators being introduced in Season 2. You can go out of your way to find various Easter Eggs in CoD: Black Ops 6 that showcase what each map's purpose is for Rogue team as they are pursued by deadly assassins.

New Competitive Playlists To Challenge Other Players

Another piece of content coming to Season 2 is a brand-new game mode called Overdrive. This mode is a spin-off of Team Deathmatch, but with the twist of how enemy teams compete to gather stars by scoring various types of eliminations. Gaining stars allows a player to gather three different buffs, which include:

• 1 Star - Awakened Senses: See enemies through walls and replenish health after eliminating a target.
• 3 Stars - Physical Enhancements: Increased movement and reload speed.
• 6 Stars - Augmented Handling: Improved Hip-Fire accuracy and improved sprint-to-fire and ADS speeds.

Gaining all three of these buffs will put your character into an Overdrive state, allowing you to earn double the stars from defeated enemies.

Another new game mode in Season 2 is Gun Game, a returning mode where all Operators begin a match with the same starting weapon. Throughout the match, you and your enemies recycle a set selection of 20 different weapons, which is determined randomly every time you spawn. This tests a player's proficiency with multiple weapon types, so make sure you have multiple loadouts in CoD: Black Ops 6 ready.

There are also two limited-time Valentine's Day themed modes coming in Season 2 as well. The first, called Third Wheel Gunfight, is a special 3v3 mode that allows the lonely third player to a couple in intense battles. The Couple's Dance Off mode, however, keeps matches to a 2v2 for special partners who can participate in Team Deathmatch, Face Off Domination, or Face Off Kill Confirmed matches.

Season 2 also sees the return of Ranked Play, which offers multiple rewards for those who can win in more competitive matches. You can earn new Rank Camos for your favorite weapons, as well as new Calling Cards that convey your achievements. The playlist of which maps are in Ranked multiplayer has changed slightly, with the new maps in Season 2 being:

• Protocol (Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control)
• Skyline (Hardpoint, Search & Destroy)
• Vault (Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control)
• Red Card (Hardpoint, Search & Destroy)
• Hacienda (Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control)

To start gaining rewards from this new Ranked season, you have to reach different goals within Ranked matches. For example, getting 100 wins in Ranked Play will earn you the "100 Season 2 Wins" Large Decal cosmetic. Reaching high ranks will likely unlock the weapon Camos associated with your ranked status, so be prepared to grind for the rarest Camos available.

New Equipment, Enemies, & Gameplay Details

Added Perks, Zombies, And Warzone Changes

The Zombies mode of CoD: Black Ops 6 has seen substancial changes in Season 2, starting with a new map being introduced. The Tomb is a new Zombies map that has brand new Easter Eggs for you to find, expanding the storyline of Zombies even further. Several quality of life updates, such as Co-op Pause, Challenge Tracking, and HUD preset settings, make the Zombies experience more customized than ever.

Zombies also has a new enemy type called the Shock Mimic, an electrified monster that disguises themselves as useful items. The new Wonder Weapon, the Staff of Ice, will help you take down these hidden monstrosities.

More changes in the Zombies mode sees new equipment you can get, including the new Death Perception Perk-A-Cola flavor. This item gives you the ability to see enemies through walls, making it perfect for the enclosed spaces of the new Tomb map. New GobbleGum pickups and weapons give you even more tools to take down hordes of undead foes.

Similarly, the Warzone mode of CoD: Black Ops 6 is also receiving new content. The Reactive Armor perk added to this mode allows you to regenerate armor, giving you better survivability in battle royale matches. New Ranked Play Warzone rewards are also being introduced this Season, giving you new Calling Card Emblems and Weapon Camos to earn as you play.

Other gameplay changes extend across every mode in the game, giving you access to at least ten new weapons. Some of these options include the Cypher 091 Assault Rifle, the Feng 82 LMG, the PPSh-41 SMG, or the TR2 Marksman Rifle. These weapons in CoD: Black Ops 6 are only the start, as new melee-focused options are coming later in Season 2, along with new weapon attachments like the Underbarrel Crossbow and Belt-Fed Magazine.

New Operators are also arriving in Season 2 through different events taking place. The cyborg, time-traveling assassin known only as The Terminator arrives this Season as an Operator you can get from the in-game store. Other stealth-based assassins named Nocturne and Vortex also appear as Operators in Season 2 with multiple skins that reflect their deadly personalities.

Many pieces of new equipment can be earned through Season 2's Battle . By purchasing the Blackcell level of this Battle , you'll gain access to the most valuable reward items, including the new Vortex Operator. With additional content being added throughout Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, you will have plenty to explore when it releases this month.
