The original Black Panther: Wakanda Forever compare to the original and the rest of the MCU? Black Panther: Wakanda Forever already had a tough job following up the highly praised first Black Panther movie, but with the tragic ing of Chadwick Boseman, Wakanda Forever could be one of the toughest sequels in the history of the MCU.

Fortunately, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has gotten mostly positive reviews, earning an 85 percent critic score and 77 percent audience score (from "all audiences"). Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's reviews continue the MCU's almost-flawless streak of "Fresh" Rotten Tomatoes scores. All but one of the 30 MCU movies since 2008 earning Fresh scores, with Eternals remaining the MCU's only "Rotten" score.

With an 85 percent score, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Rotten Tomatoes score comes in 11 points lower than Black Panther's 96 percent score (the highest in the MCU), and brings the averages of both Black Panther movies to 91 percent. Rotten Tomatoes' specially selected "Top Critics" gave Black Panther: Wakanda Forever an even lower score of 75 percent, 18 points lower than the 93 percent score Rotten Tomatoes' Top Critics gave the first Black Panther. When it comes to the Rotten Tomatoes audience score, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever scored 77 percent from "all audiences," which is only 2 points lower than Black Panther's 79 percent.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Beats the MCU's Rotten Tomatoes Average (But Not The Audience Score)

The MCU's average Rotten Tomatoes score across all 30 movies is 83 percent, so the 85 percent score from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's reviews beats the MCU average by two points. Unfortunately, when it comes to the audience score, the MCU's average Rotten Tomatoes audience score is 82 percent, five points higher than Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's 77 percent. Taken as a whole, both Black Panther movies have an average score of 91 percent, which is the 2nd highest solo-movie average behind Spider-Man's 92 percent average (Spider-Man: Homecoming scored 92 percent, Spider-Man: Far From Home scored 90 percent, and Spider-Man: No Way Home scored 93 percent).

While Black Panther: Wakanda Forever reviews might not quite stack up to the original Black Panther, it still barely beats out the MCU's average score, continuing the MCU's excellent Rotten Tomatoes track record. Of course, all reviews are subjective, so take it with a grain of salt. Considering the massive financial success of the first film and the uncertainty of the post-pandemic box office, it'll be interesting to see if Black Panther: Wakanda Forever can recapture the same audience popularity at the box office.
