The first footage of Black Phone 2 has arrived. From the director of Black Phone, the sequel, directed and co-written by Scott Derrickson, sees Ethan Hawke reprising his role as The Grabber. He is ed by Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, Miguel Mora, Demián Bichir, and more. Though exact story details are under wraps, the movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 16.
Now, Fandango has shared the first footage of Black Phone 2 on their X , which includes three teasers. The footage teases the return of the black phone, murder details, and a key location in the movie. Check out the post below:
What This Means For The Black Phone 2
Black Phone 2 Takes Place At A Remote Location
The new teaser offers insight into the key details in Black Phone 2's plot. As seen in the second teaser, the murders and disappearances of three boys at Alpine Lake Youth Camp will play a part in the story. The specifics of their untold story are narrated by an unknown child, potentially a former victim calling from the black phone, a device used in the first movie where The Grabber's former victims communicated to the protagonist. However, it's unknown how the stories of the three boys will be connected to the main events.

“Demands More”: The Black Phone 2 Director Teases 1 Major Difference That Makes The Sequel “More Graphic, Scarier”
The Black Phone 2 director Scott Derrickson teases one major difference to the sequel that makes it "more graphic, scarier" than the first.
The third teaser offers a deeper look at the gore and supernatural elements in Black Phone 2 and how the location has changed from the original movie. The Black Phone took place mainly in The Grabber's basement. However, the footage indicates that the new movie will revolve around a remote cabin in the woods during winter.
Our Take On Black Phone 2's New Footage
It's A Genuine Surprise And A Brilliant Idea
The Grabber, who died at the end of The Black Phone, is nowhere to be seen in the new footage, but it seems that he still manages to haunt the protagonists and commit violent crimes. Derrickson has previously revealed that the sequel will take place when Gwen (McGraw) and Finney Shaw (Thames) are in high school, but how this will be connected with Alphine Lake Youth Camp and the black phone is still a mystery.
The new footage of Black Phone 2 has just made the movie even more intriguing. It reveals some of the key details about the film without giving away too much. There are many different ways the sequel could've gone, but the crimes of the three boys at a youth camp are one that I didn't expect to see, which makes it the perfect setup to balance true crime elements and classic horror locations.
