The relationship between Bruce Banner and Black Widow was unique to the MCU. While their romance never really took off, it was clear they had feelings for one another, and those feelings made Natasha the only one who could calm down the Hulk - but her MCU lullaby doesn’t work at all in the comics.

The lullaby was introduced in during their fight, only to be slammed around on the ground Loki-style. Thor tries again later when Bruce starts having a panic attack, repeatedly saying “the sun’s getting low,” but all it does is stress Bruce out even more. It seems that only Natasha has the magic touch in the MCU, but the same can’t be said for her comics counterpart.

Maestro #1 by Peter David, German Peralta, Dale Keown, Jesus Aburtov, and Jason Keith is the first part of a new five-issue series from Marvel detailing the Hulk’s strength and Bruce Banner’s intelligence, a combination that allows him to easily take over what remains of the Earth. While Maestro was created by David back in 1992 in The Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect #1, his exact backstory has never been revealed - until now.

The issue starts off with Hulk living his best life, but some strange occurrences start to make him suspicious, and his suspicion leads to anger. Naturally, the Avengers don’t want Hulk to get angry. They try to calm him down and Black Widow whips out the old lullaby trick. “The Sun’s getting reeeal low…” she says. Unfortunately, Hulk has absolutely no idea what she’s talking about, and he winds up taking down the whole team with a single clap before breaking free of what turned out to be a simulation.

Much like in Thor: Ragnarok, the lullaby in Maestro #1 is really only used as a joke - and a hilarious one at that. Black Widow didn't have the same success with the lullaby as she did in the movies. Still, it’s always nice to see the comics reference the movies and vice versa.
