Marvel’s MCU; however, comic-con can reveal the daywalker in the weirdest way. With little said about the Marvel project and even less known, the anticipation for the vampire hunter’s new movie has left audiences thirsty for more. As odd as it might sound, it makes sense that in the shadows of another corner of the MCU, Blade is lurking and that it’s at San Diego Comic-Con that Marvel can gear up to tease a new era with him as one of its flagbearers.
The vampire hunter Blade has always been one of Marvel’s hallmark characters, previously headlining three movies, a television series, and an anime adaptation. As early as 2016, Eternals, word has been sparse on Blade.
Blade is coming, but true to a vampire hunter’s tactics, there are reasons to believe the daywalker will reveal himself at an unexpected time and place. With Werewolf by Night set to continue the MCU’s new horror titles in the wake of Werewolf by Night’s story, and Comic-Con’s ideal opportunities, Marvel won't need to leave fans high and dry this year when fans are craving Blade updates. While less well-known than other Marvel projects, Werewolf By Night is actually the perfect conduit for a character like Blade.
Why Werewolf By Night Is Blade's Best MCU Debut
Werewolf by Night is in a slew of new horror titles in the MCU. Focusing on Jack Russell, a man afflicted with lycanthropy, it only makes sense that Marvel would want to use this story to help cement the MCU’s supernatural presence after so many sci-fi titles. Additionally, Werewolf by Night casting Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone alludes that monster hunters will play a role, and it wouldn’t be beyond Blade to be among them. After all, Werewolf by Night’s special to whet appetites for a new movie would be in line with Disney+ and MCU.
It was at 2019’s SDCC that Blade was officially announced, and it would make sense that it’d be the forum for another significant announcement. Especially considering how long it’s been since any substantial details about Blade were revealed beyond a few vague casting choices. Additionally, a new comic crossover between the Bloodstone, Werewolf by Night, and Blade series, made recently only seems to suggest Marvel is strengthening the characters’ ties and secretly preparing audiences for their live-action presences come October. So the time is right, the place is likely, and the trail is there, leading to a darker corner of the MCU with Blade spearheading it.
As the MCU continues to sink its fangs into the supernatural horror genre, Blade is just one of many vampire projects in development for an eager audience. As MCU’s new age of horror continues in Werewolf by Night, it seems ideal that now is the time for Marvel to confirm their vampire hunter for the Halloween spectacular. That said, what happens at SDCC remains to be seen.
