A new Wesley Snipes with Mahershala Ali. Based on the Marvel comic book series, the 1998 Blade movie starred Snipes as a half-vampire superhero doing gruesomely R-rated battle with the undead. The film was a hit with $131 million grossed at the box office against a budget of $45 million, and spawned a pair of sequels.

Unfortunately the second of those sequels, Blade: Trinity, was a disastrous production in many ways (it spawned legendary tales of Snipes’ bizarre behind-the-scenes behavior) and the Blade series then came to a halt. But now over fifteen years after the last Blade movie, Marvel Studios is bringing back the supernatural superhero franchise with Oscar-winner Ali set to pick up the sword formerly wielded by Snipes. Little has been revealed about plans for the new Blade since the movie was initially announced, but Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige recently indicated that all that will soon change as news about the movie is in the offing.

While fans wait to find out more about the Blade reboot, the YouTube channel FaceToFake offers up a preview of what Ali will look like in the role of Blade with a deepfake that inserts him into a montage of action scenes from the original trilogy. There are also some interesting cameos sprinkled throughout the clip which can be seen in the space below:

In addition to replacing Snipes with Ali, the clip makes some other interesting fancasting choices by inserting Viggo Mortensen as Whistler, Halle Berry as Blade’s mother, Robert Pattinson as Frost and Donald Trump as Pearl. Perhaps most interestingly, the video leaves in Hellboy reboot found out).

Overall the clip is rather chaotic as it mostly uses scrambled together action footage from the MCU. It will be interesting to see if the promised Blade announcements will indeed address the rating issue.
