Warning: Spoilers for Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War, Episode 6The return of Bleach as an anime was a shock to everyone, and most of all series creator Tite Kubo. Thrilled to finally see the last chapter of Bleach on screen, Kubo has been celebrating new episodes with original drawings of featured characters. This week, however, the celebration takes a moment to mourn two of its lost characters.
The images, posted to Head Captain Genryusai Yamamoto and his lieutenant, Chojiro Sasakibe, in profile, looking forlorn. They feature muted colors, and the coloring is done in a flat style. The background of both pictures features rain, as the episode did when Captain Yamamoto fell. As ordered on Twitter, the two images are placed such that Yamamoto and Sasakibe are facing away from each other, perhaps both disappointed to have let the other down.
Lieutenant Sasakibe was killed early on in the revived series, but his death served as a calling card for Bleach's Soul Reapers without their leader.
Yamamoto's Death was a Highly Anticipated Scene
In an images of Bleach's Sasakibe and Yamamoto were posted to Twitter mere hours after the episode aired, and knowing how much he was anticipating it, it's not hard to guess why. The battle definitely lived up to the hype, and Yamamoto's full power was on display in a way that made it clear to fans why he's been the one in charge all this time.
While it may be the end for Yamamoto, there's plenty more Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War left to come, and Kubo's excitement doesn't seem to have waned a bit.
Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War is now streaming on Hulu, with new episodes dropping each Monday morning.
