Former Sony Japan Studio producer Teruyuki Toriyama, who was responsible for hit titles like Bloodborne and Demon Souls, has ed forces with several other industry veterans to create the new game development company, Sirius Studio. The new studio will be collaborating with the Japan-based game publisher and developer, gz.
Toriyama will be ed at Sirius Studio by a star-studded team of gaming industry experts from big development companies like Sony Japan and Sega, according to Gematsu. The new studio will focus on creating AA and AAA games for consoles and VR. The Sirius Studio website, which is currently experiencing difficulties, states that the goal of the company is to "sparkle the hearts" of players, which seems to align with the cheery gz motto, "create with great zeal!"
Sirius Studio To Be Helmed By Industry Veterans From Sony And SEGA
The Young Studio Is In Good Hands
Teruyuki Toriyama worked with Sony until 2020, heading huge projects like the aforementioned Soulsborne duo, as well as several other titles like Soul Sacrifice and Déraciné. His newly established Sirius Studio currently has about 20 employees working for it, including the following names:
- Hideki Irie from Sega will act as Executive Vice President / Executive Producer
- Toriyama himself will be the company director and Chief Product Officer
- Tomohiro Suzuki, president and representative director of gz, will take the role of President
- Koh Okamura from Sega and Sony will fill the shoes of Executive Officer and Producer
- Tsubasa Miyamoto from Capcom will also act as Executive Officer and Producer
Between them, the executives in charge of overseeing the company have over two decades of experience in the video game industry. Collectively, the team has worked on a wide range of titles, including Bloodborne, Demon Souls, and Soul Sacrifice and its sequel, as already mentioned, along with the Resident Evil, Phoenix Wright, Astro Bot, and Yakuza franchises.

Why The Duskbloods Isn't Bloodborne 2 (Despite All The Similarities)
The Duskbloods was just announced for Nintendo Switch 2 by FromSoftware, and its similarities to the universe of the Bloodborne series are many.
It's important to note here that although these people all have an inordinate amount of experience in the gaming world, they've only worked on the corporate side of things. Forging great games will require Sirius Studio to fill its roster with excellent creatives.
What This Means For Bloodborne
The New Studio Doesn't Mean A Bloodborne Sequel Is Coming
Fans have been wanting a Bloodborne sequel for years, begging FromSoftware and Sony to create a followup to the gun-toting arm of their Soulslike franchise. Hearing that the ex-Bloodborne producer is starting a new company may sound promising, but unfortunately, Sirius Studio likely won't have any relation to Bloodborne besides Toriyama's ties to it.
The studio doesn't own the rights to the franchise, and Sony is unlikely to outsource work on a sequel, even if it's to a company created by a former employee. Despite the lack of news about a second Bloodborne, fans can look forward to the similar new Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title The Duskbloods, announced in April.
