Eiza Gonzalez has hit the ground running starring in films like Baby Driver, Hobbs and Shaw and Alita: Battle Angel. She has become a huge action star and there are no signs of stopping for this multi-talented actress. She got her start on the small screen and also has released some music. She will soon be in the Godzilla vs. Kong.

In Bloodshot she plays KT, a fallen Navy Seal who is given an implant that makes her impervious to gasses. KT takes on the company that gave her a second chance in order to set things right and to help Ray Garrison get a second chance. Bloodshot releases on March 13th.

I love the film. It was so much fun. Your character is probably my favorite. She's super complex. Tell me about the relationship that she has with Ray and why is it that you feel that she needs to free him knowing that it could ultimately cost her life?

Eiza Gonzalez: I think that that was something that really sort of made me gravitate towards her was that she has so much honesty, like so much heart. And I feel like that's what I felt like the contemporary woman was; you can be hard and strong and independent and you know, not need help from anyone, and what she is. But also an emotional character. And I think that her relationship with Ray's sort of seeing him have a second chance and not being able to live the best version of it. And then just this, he's in this tormentous situation, he's being tormented and she just is a real genuine human being and with a real heart. And you see her like throughout the process it was tricky, you know, cause she doesn't want to be part of it, but how do I not give away that part of the story and how it was just all a very intertwined specifically for my character because it had all these like little things that had to be carefully plugged in throughout the story to make the story make sense. So it was tricky.

Eiza Gonzalez in Bloodshot

What's most intriguing about your character is learning about her past and how she got to where she is in the film. Were there any talks of including any scenes as far as her origins and how she got the implant?

Eiza Gonzalez: I liked originally in the first script, you didn't meet her until like when he goes and presents everyone from Chainsaw and she was kind of this weird, dark character that you didn't know where she was coming from. And I thought that when they rewrote the second version of it where she was part of it from the beginning, it put her more in a complex situation because you don't really know much about her. And I liked that because for when you get to that scene where she says, this is who I am and I'm okay with it, I thought I'd made a really strong, because you don't really know where she's coming from. And it kind of gives her a strength versus it's ambiguous, right? So anything could be there and it makes her stronger versus knowing and feeling sorry for her. It just felt like strong female character in the sense of what strong means, not just because she punches people, but the fact that she accepts herself with the flaws, who she is, the scars, the emotional trauma, the disturbance of what she's living like she is okay in a positive way. And I thought that was such an amazing message for little girls watching the movie.

I think you're a perfect role model for that you know, hopefully there's a sequel. What types of arcs or storylines do you want to explore with this character? I don't know how far into the comics that you've read, but what types of stories do you want to see for?

Eiza Gonzalez: Well, I think the beauty about these films is that you can go to the past future. Like it always kind of comes down to the decision that they want to go towards, but I feel like I'd love to expand the universe. Obviously there's Valiant and there's Harbinger in the world Valiant and there's more characters. And I'd love to kind of dive into the relationships of those. And I love to know more about her. I think that, you know, we kind of see the tip of the iceberg with her on this one. So I like to see what she's capable of doing also with her enhancements more and more throughout the movie, because I feel like we just saw just a little bit of.
