Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be getting new playable characters this month, and it's a chance for players to play the other side for a while. A few months ago Zangetsu was added as a playable character fighting for the good side, but the characters coming up for release will be some bosses from the game. Evidently, they seem keen to get onto the battlefield and take their revenge on the heroes.

Developer ArtPlay has been on a very touch-and-go schedule, understandably, when it comes to its updates and fixes for Bloodstained. Players were promised Boss Revenge mode and Chroma Wheel, although ArtPlay was not confident enough to cement a date for these new options.

However, the latest news from the Nintendo Switch will receive its update later this month. While it's a pity that Switch players will have to wait even longer, it may be worth the wait as the Boss Revenge mode adds four of the game's most notorious villains to play as: Andrealphus, Bathin, Bloodless, and Gremory. The Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night website explains that each boss is armed with their own set of abilities and a unique play style. Once the player has chosen their preferred antagonist, they will be pitted against a string of heroes, namely Zangetsu, Dominique, and ultimately Miriam. After each fight is won, the player will be sent to a transition room, and then on to the next location and battle.

As mentioned, the Chroma Wheel will also be included in the next update alongside the vengeful bosses. This adds new Xbox One.

Boss Revenge sounds like an interesting concept that, hopefully, PC gamers will be seeing the first of within the week. Regretfully, Switch gamers will have to wait a little longer for the update, but when it arrives there will be a host of new characters available to play as and a chance for the villains to come out on top for a change.
