Netflix's Sirens recently premiered, and the miniseries has been praised for its storytelling and acting, with Meghann Fahy taking center stage as Devon Dewitt. While this is far from Fahy's only great TV character, it's been fun falling in love with her on Sirens. She co-stars with a terrific ensemble cast that includes Milly Alcock, Julianne Moore, and Kevin Bacon. The series follows Devon as she infiltrates the wealthy, elite compound where her sister, Simone, is working. As Devon attempts to get to the bottom of the mysterious, cult-like community, we get to see some of Fahy's best work.
Fahy also starred in the new The White Lotus, Daphne. As audiences continue to be enchanted by Fahy in all her exciting new work, it's fun to look back on the series that kick-started her career, putting her on the map and utilizing her acting skills.
The Bold Type Was Meghan Fahy's Breakout Show
She Played Sutton Brady On The Bold Type
The Bold Type aired on Freeform from 2017 to 2021 and was Fahy's breakout role, playing Sutton. She was one of the three central characters in the series, starring alongside Aisha Dee and Katie Stevens as Kat and Jane. The trio navigates life in New York City as they attempt to climb the ranks of the fictional magazine they work for, which is loosely inspired by publications like Cosmopolitan. While their work is a prominent part of the show, all three actors get to explore the personal and cultural corners of the story, making for a compelling narrative.
Though The Bold Type typically used a lighter tone than some of Fahy's other work, the series wasn't afraid to grapple with serious situations and cultural issues, especially as the seasons progressed. One of the best parts of Fahy's role on The Bold Type was how much she evolved as the show moved into the later seasons. Sutton went through a lot in every aspect of her life, and Fahy handled these changes with grace, no matter what. The Bold Type was a great early role for Fahy, as she got to evolve as a performer alongside her character.
How Fahy's Performance In The Bold Type Informs Her Most Famous Roles
From The Bold Type To The White Lotus & Sirens, Fahy Does It All
Fahy might not be playing Sutton anymore, but these early characters and projects always stay with an actor well into their career. Devon's personality and strength can be traced back to Sutton and Fahy's experience playing this character. Even Fahy's recent foray into filmmaking with Drop has the strength that the actress demonstrates in all her roles. However, Violet, Fahy's character in Drop, exists in a much more plot-driven narrative, which allows Fahy to experiment with her physicality and heroism more than in other projects she's been a part of.

Milly Alcock, Meghann Fahy & Sirens Main Cast's Ages Explained (& How Their Characters Compare)
The ages of Milly Alcock, Meghann Fahy, Julianne Moore, and Kevin Bacon's characters in Netflix's Sirens have an impact on their respective stories.
Of every season of The White Lotus, season 2, which stars Fahy, is frequently cited as the best. Daphne is on the other side of the privileged world that both Devon and Sutton are typically outside of, giving Fahy an interesting new challenge in expressing the class commentary inherent to The White Lotus. It will be interesting to see if Fahy ends up being better known for The White Lotus or Sirens. The White Lotus might be a bigger show, but Fahy has a much bigger role in Sirens, serving as the protagonist.

Why Fans Of Sirens Will Love The Bold Type
For Those Who Can't Get Enough Of Sirens, The Bold Type Is The Perfect Followup
Fahy anchors Sirens as one of the most grounded and gritty characters, Devon, who enters into the sinister world of the story to save her sister. Devon is the lens through which the audience experiences the narrative, seeing how she relates to the extremity of the elite and dangerous universe she steps into. Like Sutton, Devon is fiercely determined and willing to go to extreme lengths to protect those she loves. In The Bold Type, this is Jane and Kat, but in Sirens, it's her sister, Simone. Issues of classism and hierarchy also play significant roles in both.
Fahy gets to go even further with her character work in The Bold Type.
While The Bold Type is less surreal and scary, it still sees Sutton and her friends challenged in the workplace and forced to confront those who would keep her out of the upper echelon of publishing. Like all the women that Fahy plays, Sutton and Devon are imperfect and do the best they can with the circumstances and tools they're given. For audiences who found themselves invested in Devon and wanted to learn more about her on Sirens, Fahy gets to go even further with her character work in The Bold Type.
