Hit series women's magazine and take on NYC with gusto and determination. No matter what, they're there for each other, and the series has moments that feel like Sex and the City and similar series focusing on female friends.

With almost four seasons down, The Bold Type has proven that it's got a lot of entertainment value, but that doesn't mean that every episode is a total and complete home run. Here are the 10 most unnecessary storylines on The Bold Type.

Jacqueline Gets Fired... Then Rehired

In the season 3 finale "Breaking Through the Noise," the girls walk into the offices of Scarlet Magazine and realize that Jacqueline (Melora Hardin) isn't there. It seems like she's been fired, or at least that's what the chaotic and depressed atmosphere would suggest. When the show returns for the fourth season, the girls learn that Jacqueline was let go, and they do everything that they can to get her rehired, which is exactly what happens.

It's obvious that this storyline happened in order for the series to have a season finale cliffhanger, and that wasn't the best artistic decision. It's too transparent and didn't ring true because if Jacqueline was fired, that would be seen as a huge deal, and she wouldn't be able to come back.

The Web Editor's Storyline Is Random

Speaking of random hiring decisions... In season 3, Patrick (Peter Vack) is hired as a web editor, but he really has no place at Scarlet or on the show in general. He isn't introduced as a love interest for any of the other characters, which seems odd considering that he and Jane definitely share some tension, and he doesn't seem to have good ideas about the future of the digital department.

When he's let go so Jacqueline can be in charge, fans are left wondering why he was even on the show in the first place. Talk about a random character.

The Girls Get Copies Of The Latest Scarlet Issue

The season 4 premiere "Legends of the Fall Issue" has quite a few ridiculous moments, including the scene when Kat, Sutton, and Jane go to the publishing press where Scarlet is produced and sweet-talk their way into getting copies of the latest issue.

This feels like a matter of life or death to them because they want to prove that Jacqueline's latest issue was inspiring, moving, and powerful, and the board fired her because they didn't like the direction she was taking the magazine. But wouldn't the girls realize that sneaking into the production house was illegal? It's also unrealistic that they talk to a guard who says she'll look the other way so they can go take some copies. It wouldn't happen.

Ryan Kisses Another Girl (And Then It Turns Out He Slept With Her)

Jane Sloan talking to Ryan on The Bold Type

Jane and Ryan's (Dan Jeannotte) relationship never feels as happy or solid as Sutton's, and when he kisses another girl while on his book tour, it's annoying to hear about. Things get more depressing when Jane spends a few episodes at the start of season 4 wondering if she can forgive Ryan... and then she realizes that he must have slept with the girl instead of simply kissing her.

This is an unnecessary storyline because it drags out their unhealthy relationship. If Jane was going to dump Ryan, she should have done so the moment that she learned that he was unfaithful.

Jacqueline Doesn't Want Comments On The Website

While it can bring out the worst of people, the act of writing comments on stories is an important part of the whole process of online journalism. Publications want to hear from their readers and know what they think... for better or for worse.

It's pretty silly when, in the season two episode "Trippin," Jacqueline doesn't want comments on the website anymore. She changes her mind in the season 2 finale and says that people will be able to write comments once again. If she was going to just go back and forth on this subject, what was the point of this storyline?

Alex Wonders If Fate Is Actually Real

Alex (Matt Ward) is given a podcast at Scarlet, and he starts wondering if fate is actually real or if people have free will when it comes to their romantic lives.

This is such a weird storyline because it really has nothing to do with anything else happening on the show. Alex is also a fairly minor character, so it's strange for him to be given so much more to do.

Sutton Lies To Try To Style Alice Knight

Sutton Brady in The Bold Type 3

The fourth and latest season of The Bold Type has a lot of unnecessary storylines, so it's fair to say it's the weakest one yet, despite some sweet moments between the three main characters.

In this latest season, Sutton meets Alice Knight (Raven-Symoné), a famous influencer in the world of beauty. Sutton lies and acts like she's a stylist working on her own and gets a job with her... but of course, Alice finds out that she misrepresented herself and tells Sutton's boss Oliver (Stephen Conrad Moore). This is so weird because Sutton has been an employee of Scarlet for a while now and she would definitely know that this was the wrong thing to do.

Kat Runs For Office

Sure, Kat is young and independent and motivating, but could she really run for office in NYC and win?

In the third season, she decides that she should start a political campaign, and it's obvious from the beginning of this storyline that people will consider her too inexperienced and she's not going to win the position. It's also true that this would be a mistake for the show because if Kat isn't at Scarlet, she and Jane and Sutton can't have the same friendship.

Adena Invites Kat To A Party Then Says No One Would Her

Kat Edison and Adena El Amin in The Bold Type

By the time that fans get to the fourth season of The Bold Type, it's clear that Kat and Adena are one of those classic couples who should definitely be together. But when Adena (Nikohl Boosheri) returns, Kat doesn't exactly act all that nice to her, and they both act in a strange way.

When Adena invites Kat to a party and then says that since she's dating both men and women now, that means that no one in the community will her, it's pretty awkward. Someone at the party tells Kat that's not the case at all, and Kat realizes that Adena probably still has feelings for her, but this could have been conveyed in another way.

Sutton Considers Moving To San Francisco

Sutton Brady and Richard Hunter Paris in The Bold Type

It's adorable watching Sutton and Richard (Sam Page) get engaged and then married, but it's clear from the moment that he goes to San Francisco to follow his dreams that Sutton will be staying in New York. If Sutton doesn't hang out with her best friends and work at Scarlet, there is literally no The Bold Type.

That's why it's an unnecessary storyline when Sutton considers moving to California to be with Richard. It's clear that this would never happen, and it's even crazier when she tries to turn down a promotion for her absolute dream job. Fans weren't surprised when Sutton told her new husband that she would be staying in NYC and that she wouldn't be leaving Scarlet behind.
