Director Luca Guadagnino and actor Timothée Chalamet are teaming up again for another coming-of-age love story in their film, Wonka. The director and actor previously paired up for Guadagnino's 2017 cinematic masterpiece, Call Me By Your Name, which starred Chalamet in the leading role.

Chalamet's performance in Call Me By Your Name earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Following on from that major success, both the director and the actor are pushing themselves to new heights with Bones & All. The film is the Italian director's first production set and filmed in the United States and Chalamet is also the producer for the film. Filming wrapped up in July 2021.

Bones & All is adapted from the 2015 novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis. DeAngelis' award-winning novel follows the romantic relationship of two misfit teenagers. The plot deals with familiar coming-of-age themes of self-loathing, loneliness, and feminism, but is explored through a darker lens. Call Me By Your Name was also adapted from a novel, which may give a sense of how faithful Guadagnino will stay to the original plot. Here's everything that's known about Bones & All, as well as what audiences can expect from the project.

Bones & All Story Details

Timothée Chalamet Bones & All

Bones & All will bring a horror-thriller spin to the coming-of-age romance narrative. The plot will follow Lee and Maren, two teenage cannibals who embark on a road trip across 1980s America. The couple's relationship will be tested as they are forced to confront each other's dark pasts while searching for Maren's father. Not much else is known about the plot as of yet, but the basic premise seems to be setting up Bones & All to be a modern-day Bonnie & Clyde, potentially mixed with some dark teenage angst, reminiscent of Florence Pugh's Dune 2 Casting Would Be Perfect (Thanks To Chalamet)

Bones & All Trailer

Bones And All Timothee Chalamet Lee

The teaser trailer for Bones & All shows the teenage couple in an intimate moment in which Lee asks "you don't think I'm a bad person?" to which Maren responds, "all I think is that I love you." What would otherwise be a fairly normal and romantic moment is contrasted with horrific screams in the background and scenes of fleeing people and hints of brutal violence. A full trailer should be released closer to Bones & All's release date.
