Timothée Chalamet is a fatal heartthrob in new images from Chalamet and Luca Guadagnino are reteaming for the tragic coming-of-age story based on a novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis. Chalamet and Escape Room's Taylor Russell lead the cast for Bones & All as Lee and Maren, with Mark Rylance, Michael Stuhlbarg, André Holland, Jessica Harper, and Chloë Sevigny appearing in ing roles. Production on the movie took place between May and July 2021 in Ohio, although filming was briefly interrupted due to a security breach.
Described as a ionate and forbidden love story between two desperate individuals, Bones & All sees Chalamet and Russell tackle the roles of two anxious teen cannibals who have learned to survive on their own after being seemingly cast out from society. The movie is set during Ronald Reagan's presidency and will follow Maren and Lee as they venture on a tedious road trip that takes them through deserted alleyways, secret tunnels, and trapdoors. The leads are determined to run away from their woeful pasts, but their contrasting backstories find a way to haunt them, and this challenge tests their relationship most seriously.
Now, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released new Bones & All images, which spotlights Chalamet and Russell's young anthropophagists. One image shows the two characters sharing an intimate moment in the back of a blue pick-up truck, presumably as they take a break from their miles-long journey. Another image teases a more tender moment, in which Maren and Lee lock their foreheads and connect emotionally with one another. Take a look at these pictures below.
Chalamet's pink highlights and ripped jeans that make up his characteristic look for the Bones & All movie are on full display in the photos. Russell's lead also looks decidedly starry-eyed and confused as she gets involved in a tumultuous relationship with Lee. The burgeoning chemistry between the teenagers is palpable, and these images are clearly the build-up for a much more intense affair that the movie will navigate.
The fascinating new photos do not really capture the grotesque horrors that Bones & All will likely depict, yet they do build anticipation for the movie, which has been confirmed to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in September before opening in cinemas on November 23, 2022. In the past, Guadagnino and Chalamet's teamwork elicited incredible results, and it seems that their reunion for Bones & All will likely make them a solid contender at the awards season. So far, there hasn't been any trailer for the movie, but with its festival premiere inching closer, Bones & All will probably drop some footage in the coming month, previewing the cannibalism-infused YA drama headed fans' way.
