The website for PEGI, the European games rating board, recently featured a listing that suggested Nintendo platform.

Developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games released the Director's Cut on April 8 for PC, Varkid raid boss encounter, a few behind-the-scenes bonuses, and three sets of themed loot. Players can unlock the special loot through three different Vault Cards, the first of which launched alongside the Director's Cut.

Despite a PEGI listing that hinted at a Nintendo Switch release for Borderlands 3: Director's Cut, the top-selling looter shooter will not make the jump to the hybrid console. This confirmation comes by way of GameSpot editor Gabe Gurwin (via GamingBolt), who reportedly spoke to a 2K Games representative that said there are no plans for a Switch version of Borderlands 3. Gurwin shared the news in the following post:

With all of the above in mind, it seems PEGI's rating was little more than a mistake. It's a shame that Borderlands 3 won't migrate to the Switch, though, since the franchise would be right at home on the platform. Sure, the PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 was riddled with technical issues, but the Switch has, more or less, offered its audience competent iterations of quite a few AAA experiences. Perhaps 2K and Gearbox simply lack interest in such an endeavor?

Borderlands 3 originally hit store shelves for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in September 2019. Gearbox's continued of the action-packed shooter has culminated in a number of post-launch story expansions and in-game events. Last November saw the studio roll out a free next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, an upgrade that surprisingly isn't available for PS5 players who take advantage of Borderlands 3's recent addition to PlayStation Now.
