Borderlands 4 on the horizon, there's been plenty of speculation about which characters from the beloved video game franchise will return, and the series' lesser-known Siren needs a comeback more than any other. Now that a new game is in the works, there's never been a better opportunity to spotlight this forgotten character.
From 2014 to 2015, IDW Publishing released two Borderlands comic series entitled Borderlands: The Fall of Fyrestone and Borderlands: Tannis & The Vault, both by the creative team of writer Mikey Neumann and artist Agustin Padilla. These stories introduce readers to Asha, also known as Tate, who is ultimately revealed to be a Siren.
Despite her impressive feats as a Siren, Asha isn't considered canon to the extended Borderlands franchise and has therefore been limited to the comics alone. However, Asha deserves a bigger role within the series, and Borderlands 4 has the chance to present this overlooked character to its wider audience among her fellow Sirens.
Move Over, Lilith: Borderlands' Most Underrated Siren Has Immense Potential
Asha Possesses One of the Coolest Siren Powers in Borderlands History
In Borderlands: The Fall of Fyrestone, Asha debuts under the alias of "Tate" as a friend of Claptrap's. An attack from Nine Toes leaves her in a comatose condition, and she mysteriously awakens during the next miniseries and undergoes a full recovery from her physical trauma. Her Siren abilities remain a mystery until Borderlands: Tannis & The Vault #8, when she s Tannis and the Vault Hunters in their pursuit of a key fragment that's guarded by a fearsome Rakk Hive. Claptrap gets injured by a Rakk, and in retaliation, Asha unleashes her powers against the Pandoran beasts.

Borderlands 4 Is Better Than Its Predecessor For One Reason
Tiny Tina's Revenge and Borderlands 3 were hit with waves of criticism over their writing, Borderlands 4 is aiming to avoid their biggest mistakes.
Sirens in the Borderlands series can be identified by their signature blue tattoos and overwhelming power. Moreover, every Siren can perform a unique skill, from Lilith's iconic Phasewalk to Tyreen and Troy Calypso's Phaseleech. In Asha's case, she claims that she can "control the beasts of any planet". She demonstrates this ability by commanding the Rakks to fly away from the Vault Hunters. Although she doesn't seem capable of taming the larger Rakk Hive, she could likely enhance her beast-taming power with more practice. Asha's potential to make even Pandora's most monstrous creatures do her bidding cements her as a contender for the series' strongest Siren.
Asha's powers bear a resemblance to those of Borderlands 3's FL4K the Beastmaster, who can also tame the animals of Pandora.
Asha Needs to the Ranks of Borderlands' More Popular Sirens
Borderlands Is Full of Sirens, So What's the Harm In Adding One More?
It's been established before that there can only be six existing Sirens at a time in Borderlands lore - with a seventh alluded to in Borderlands 4's playable Siren are confirmed to be alive, whereas Lilith's status is presently unknown, so there's room for at least one more Siren to the mix. Asha has been absent from the franchise since her initial comic appearances, and amidst the excitement for the games' next installment, Borderlands should take advantage of the hype by re-introducing Asha to the world.
