With the release of Borderlands 4 right around the corner, Gearbox and 2K have revealed a bit of info about the new Vault Hunters fans will be playing as this time around. Every entry in the Borderlands franchise introduces four new characters, each with their own skills, fighting style, and personality. The fourth entry in the series is no different, and the franchise's latest adventurers are ready to embark on their journey.
Fans got their first small glimpse of the new Vault Hunters when the game's April 30 State of Play and PAX East, we now know quite a bit about whose shoes fans will be filling when Borderlands 4 launches this fall.
All Four New Vault Hunters In Borderlands 4
What To Expect From The New Team Of Adventurers
When the game arrives later this year, four new adventurers will depart from the planet of Pandora in favor of the planet Kairos, six years after Pandora's moon Elpis was teleported into it. The effects were devastating, giving rise to a massive conflict that has resulted in warring factions. Players will be thrust into this conflict, where they'll find some familiar faces and meet new friends (and enemies).

Every Returning Borderlands 4 Character We Know About
A number of familiar faces from across the Borderlands games are returning in Borderlands 4, including some of the series’ best characters.
All four of the new Borderlands 4 Vault Hunters have been revealed, from their names to general information about their history and powers. At this point, we know more about some than others, but there's enough information to get a decent sense of the new Hunters. The Borderlands 4 playable characters are Vex the Siren, Rafa the Exo-Soldier, Harlowe the Gravitar, and Amon the Forgeknight.
Vex The Siren
More has been revealed about Vex than any of the other new Vault Hunters, since she was the central character in the State of Play showcase. Until the new footage and information were revealed, the then-unnamed Vex was also the cause of the most speculation, because of the series' rules surrounding Sirens.
In the Borderlands universe, Sirens are powerful beings with magical powers and mysterious ties to the ancient Eridian race and legendary Vaults, said to contain great riches. Vex received her Siren powers fairly recently, but she rises to the opportunity to do some damage to anyone who oppresses the weak.
Vex is rough around the edges, with a gruff exterior due to a difficult upbringing. The series' newest Siren is a study in contradictions, being both a pessimist and an empath. She may appear grumpy and unfriendly, but underneath it all, she really wants to help people.
Yes, you can pet the huge spectral kitty.
The new Siren has gotten the nickname the "Phasereaper" from the Borderlands community due to her ability to summon spectral companions. She's accompanied by her trusty ethereal Phase Phamiliar, Trouble, who has the ability to sync to the element of Vex's gun. The other paths in Vex's skill tree are "Dead Ringer," where she can summon reaper-like beings, and "Incarnate," in which she grows spectral dragon wings and gains the power to create energy blasts.
Rafa The Exo-Soldier
Rafa's small body was the result of him growing up in microgravity, a fact which made it impossible for him to leave his home planet. His desire to see the world led him to snatch up the opportunity to work for Tediore, where he received an experimental exo-suit, known as the Tediore Deadframe, in return for his service in the military on behalf of the company.

After 10 Years, Borderlands 4 May Finally Get Me To Return To The Series After Falling Out Of Love With It
I haven’t loved Borderlands in a long time, but after 10 years away, Borderlands 4 may just pull me back in and get me to fall in love all over again.
Before long, Rafa realized that the suit would render him forever in servitude to Tediore, and ran away to live out the rest of his life on his . That is, until the past catches up to him or his exo-suit blows him up, whichever comes first. The entire ordeal gave Rafa an energetic, YOLO energy, intent to make the most of the time he has left. The character's energy and charisma are so infectious that, apparently, even the enemies have dialogue lines reacting to him.
Rafa's exo-suit allows him to digistruct various weapons, giving him an additional combat arsenal besides the many guns found throughout Borderlands. The character can pull up lazer cannons and energy swords, and move extremely fast, making him a versatile adventurer for players who like to mix up close- and long-range combat.
Harlowe The Gravitar
The tech-savvy Harlowe has ties to the well-known Traunt family from the Borderlands 3, but her preference for science and understanding how things work made her the black sheep of her combat-oriented relatives. The brilliant former Maliwan "combat scientist" has five PhDs, and she's used that knowledge to learn how to literally bend gravity to her will, destroying anything or anyone who stands in her way.
Harlowe's weapon of choice is a massive mechanical launcher that shoots out powerful cannonballs, but she also has the ability to lift enemies into the air and slam them back down. Players will likely discover even more tech tools and gadgets as they progress across her skill trees. All this destructive power doesn't get Harlowe down, as the character maintains a bright and sunny outlook on life.
Amon The Forgeknight
Amon (that's pronounced "AY-mon") is the final Vault Hunter to the new group of four, and the one with the darkest background out of all the new characters. The burly fighter grew up in a cult that worshiped a Vault monster, right up until the moment that the monster razed the cult and all its to the ground.
Amon was the sole survivor of the massacre, and he's made it his mission to travel the world killing Vault monsters to avenge his family, spouse, and friends. Despite his difficult past and tough exterior, Amon has a thoughtful approach to life, earning him the descriptor of "warrior-poet." Borderlands 4 fans who play as Amon may get to hear some of the many tales of his travels.
The Viking-like Amon has "Forge Drones" in his spine, which he can use to manifest various weapons like battle axes, hammers, shields, whips, spears, and more. As the fourth and final new Vault Hunter in Borderlands 4, Amon s his fellow adventurers as they embark on a new quest when the game hits stores in September.
