The latest Borderlands movie news looks very promising, and there are plenty of updates regarding Eli Roth's film. Lionsgate first announced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi action-adventure in 2015 and later enlisted Chernobyl's Craig Mazin to write the screenplay's first draft. The first-person shooting game blends elements of sci-fi with the Western genre and has proven to be one of the most successful gaming franchises of the 21st century.

Mazin also had a part in developing HBO's accurate adaptation of The Last of Us, and that sort of faithfulness to the source material is a must for Borderlands. Set in a world that is filled with open-ended lore, Borderlands lends itself to adaptation much easier than many of its FPS counterparts, and Roth's imaginative filmmaking is the right fit for the game's unique world. With so many other gaming adaptations becoming box office juggernauts, Borderlands could be the next.
