According to Borderlands lore, there can only be six Sirens in the world at any particular time, with a potential dreaded seventh. However, fans of the franchise have gotten to play, meet, or learn about significantly more of these legendary beings throughout the games and related media. Sirens in the Borderlands universe are powerful, typically female, beings who develop incredible powers and striking tattoos across their bodies.
Although all the Sirens in the game's history have had special powers, what abilities they have and how strongly they manifest them have varied. Borderlands 4 has shown fans a glimpse of the next Siren to the team as a new Vault Hunter, though her powers are still unknown at the time of this writing. Even without knowing the newest Siren's powers, the franchise has plenty of awesome and incredibly powerful Sirens, each with increasingly cool and strong abilities.
Warning! Major spoilers for the Borderlands games, especially Borderlands 3, follow below.
10 Asha — Animal Control
She's Not Canon But Her Powers Could Be
Borderlands fans might be wondering who Asha is, or how they managed to overlook an entire Siren in the Borderlands games. The truth is, Asha never showed up in the games, only appearing in the comics The Fall of Fyrestone and Tannis and the Vault. In the comics, Asha is revealed to be a secret Siren with the ability to control animals when she causes a swarm of Rakks to stop attacking.

Borderlands 4 Is Better Than Its Predecessor For One Reason
Tiny Tina's Revenge and Borderlands 3 were hit with waves of criticism over their writing, Borderlands 4 is aiming to avoid their biggest mistakes.
The comics have been confirmed not to be canon, so fans may never get to see Asha in the games, but that doesn't mean that her power isn't possible in the Borderlands lore. There are currently five confirmed "Phase" Siren powers, so one Siren's power is still unknown (or two, if there are actually seven Sirens). The power of animal control would be a useful one for a Vault Hunter, and falls in line with other Siren abilities, which all revolve around some form of physical or mental control.
9 Ava — Phaselock
Less Popular Than Borderland 3's Main Antagonists
The young Ava gets the short end of the stick from the games and fans alike. She lost her parents as a young girl and became a stowaway and a thief to survive, with no aspirations or hope for a better life. When she tried to steal something from Maya, the Siren took her in as an apprentice and began to train her to one day take on Maya's powers.
Thanks to Ava's youthful angst, sticky fingers, and penchant for trouble, the character is almost universally disliked by Borderlands players, earning more player ire than the actual "bad guys" of Borderlands 3. Unfortunately for fans, Ava is here to stay, since she did end up inheriting Maya's Phaselock powers when Maya was killed. These powers let Ava "lock" living beings in place and even control them for a short time. Ava's powers are still in their infancy, and it will take time to see if they, and their wielder, become anything more.
8 Patricia Tannis — Phaseshift
The Most Nonchalant Siren Reveal
The eccentric scientist Tannis has been with the Vault Hunters from the first game, providing them with much-needed assistance and moments of comic relief. Tannis's ridiculous non sequiturs and poor grasp of reality often lead to nonsensical lines of dialogue and a lack of understanding of social norms. Like many other Borderlands characters, the comedy is undercut by the reason behind her instability: experiencing the harsh realities of Pandora and watching her colleagues perish at the planet's whims.

Borderlands 4 Needs Its Own Villain Like Handsome Jack To Succeed, & The Timekeeper May Be The Answer
The writing of Borderlands has struggled without Handsome Jack, but Borderlands 4's Timekeeper could bring the series back to its heyday.
The tragi-comic nature of Tannis's character made it all the more surprising when she casually revealed that she acquired the Siren Angel's powers at the end of Borderlands 2. She is not as skilled as Angel was with the phaseshift ability, but spending hours training in secret did make her competent enough to rescue the protagonists at a key moment in Boderlands 3. Phaseshift allows Tannis to interact with and control technolog, and while players haven't gotten to see her use the skills much yet, she's bound to become cooler and more powerful as she undoubtedly experiments and continues to train.
7 Amara — Phasetrance
Manifest An Extra Arm (Or Six)
Amara is a playable character and one of the Vault Hunters in Borderlands 3. She became somewhat of a legend in the slums where she grew up, first by being powerful enough to punch holes in the side of a truck and then by standing up to a bully. Since then, Amara has been on a mission to help the oppressed and strike down wrongdoers.
She does so with devastating efficiency thanks to her cool Siren powers. Amara possesses the Phasetrance ability, which lets her manifest human parts that can then interact with the environment. For Amara, this takes the form of massive arms that she can use to punch, grab, strike up from the ground, defend, and more. Amara's power is relatively simple compared to some of the other sirens, but it's incredibly cool to watch the large blue glowing arms strike out from behind her.
6 Maya — Phaselock
Can Trap And Control Living Beings
Maya is the playable Siren class Vault Hunter of Borderlands 2 and appears as a major character with an important role in the sequel. She comes into the game with her powers already honed thanks to the order of monks that she belonged to on her home planet. Maya spends most of her early life training, before escaping from the grasp of the nefarious monks and heading to Pandora as a Vault Hunter.
Maya's special Siren ability is Phaselock, which gives her the power to stop any being in their tracks and hold them in place. It also lets her turn enemies on each other, dipping into mind-control territory. When she appears in Borderlands 3, Maya's powers have evolved to form balls of energy that she can launch at enemies and things to destroy them, making the ability even more powerful and impressive.
5 Tyreen Calypso — Phaseleech & Phasewalk
Able To Leech The Lifeforce From Living Beings
Troy and Tyreen Calypso are the antagonists of Borderlands 3, and both possess quite a strong power that they use to rule over their followers, the Children of the Vault. Tyreen starts as the stronger of the two, both in of her personality and her Siren powers. Being a rare male Siren, Troy's powers aren't as well-developed as his sister's, at least in the beginning.

10 Best Borderlands Characters, Ranked
With multiple games of content building up the universe of the Borderlands franchise, there’s no shortage of great characters to find in Pandora.
Tyreen possesses the Phaseleech ability, which lets her absorb life energy, stealing anyone's vitality along with any special powers they possess. This makes it possible for her to grow more powerful by leeching from those around her and her loyal followers. It also lets her steal Lilith's Phasewalk ability, making her even more powerful, and even merge with the terrifying Vault monster, The Destroyer. Being able to steal other characters' abilities and traits seems almost like a cheat code and is pretty cool even if players aren't supposed to root for Tyreen.
4 Troy Calypso — Phaseleech & Phaselock
A One-Of-A-Kind Male Siren With Two Powers
Troy is the only known male Siren in existence, as he literally leeched the power from his twin sister, Tyreen, when the two were coned. Thanks to his gender and roundabout way of acquiring his powers, Troy's powers aren't as strong as his sister's. This changes when Troy manages to kill Maya and leech her power from her, gaining the Phaselock ability.
Once he gets a hold of Maya's skills, he grows in power and gains an incredible power that has never been seen before. Using a combination of Phaseleech and Phaselock, Troy is able to drain the energy from one person as well as transfer energy to others. This, in turn, allows Troy to create a new race of psudo-Siren beings, called the Anointed. Although Troy is eventually stopped, his incredible use of his Siren abilities could have eventually led to the creation of Sirens other than the original six (or, once again, seven).
3 Angel — Phaseshift
An Omnipresent Ghost In The Tech Machine
Angel is the "Guardian Angel" guiding the 2, and the daughter of the game's antagonist, Handsome Jack. Angel manifested her Siren powers when she was young, which led to her accidentally killing her own mother while trying to defend her from a bandit. Her tragic childhood scarred her and Jack for life, and led to Jack connecting her to the Hyperion network and essentially turning her into more machine than human.
While Angel's powers eventually end up with Tannis, she had a much more powerful and awesome manifestation of them. While part of Hyperion, Angel had access to every satellite, computer, and bit of technology in the entire galaxy. This made her something between a computer AI and nearly God-like, able to see through and manipulate any tech that was part of the network. Unfortunately, this power came at a cost, resulting in her death at the end of Borderlands 2.
2 Nyriad — Phaseleech
Sealed Away A Powerful Guardian And Her Own Powers
Although players are told a lot about Nyriad, the character never actually appears in any of the Borderlands games. The ancient Siren lived a long time before the events of the games, but she played a key role in the events of Borderlands 3. Players find out through writings and recordings found throughout the world that Nyriad was the one who sealed away The Destroyer. To prevent her powers from being used again in the future, she seals herself away in a Vault, never to be seen again... until a pair of travelers come across it.

10 Features We Desperately Want To See In Borderlands 4
Gearbox Software has scheduled Borderlands 4 for a 2025 release, and there are a number of features the game can improve the series with.
Nyriad is the source of the Calypso twins' powers, which were unleashed when the explorer Typhon DeLeon and his wife opened the Vault. The powers then sought out a new host, ending up possessing the twins. Despite the horrors that the Calypso twins unleash on the world, Nyriad's Phaseleech powers are thousands of times more powerful and terrible. Besides defeating The Destroyer at the height of its power, Nyriad also single-handedly wiped out the entire Eridian race, an incredible feat.
1 Lilith — Phasewalk
She Phasewalked An Entire Moon Out Of The Sky
Lilith is the very first Siren that players encounter in Borderlands. She appears as a playable character in the first game and is shown to grow more mature and more powerful throughout the subsequent titles. When she first shows up in the franchise, Lilith's Phasewalk ability allows her to walk between dimensions, causing damage to enemies when she reappears in the real world. The power is closely tied to the fire element, which allows the Siren to form wings of fire, earning Lilith the awesome symbol and nickname of the Phoenix.
Throughout the games that followed Borderlands 1, Lilith has grown in mental and physical strength. The events that she goes through build her character into an incredibly powerful Siren and individual. At the end of Borderlands 3, Lilith's Phasewalk has grown so strong that she manages to use her power to teleport the entire moon of Elpis away to save Pandora. This incredible show of power and the awesome manifestation of the Phasewalk ability make Lilith the coolest Siren in the Borderlands franchise.
