Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has been a shift in tone for the series and took a much darker path than normal, but it could have been a whole lot worse based on recent revelations. Although the world is in crisis, it pales in comparison to what could have happened in the series' first part according to a broken new ability. Though Boruto has always had its darker elements, it's genuinely shocking to see just how dark the series could have been.

In chapter #13, Boruto and Kashin Koji's first meeting is revealed, and their alliance is forged. This is when Jiraiya's clone reveals that he awakened the Prescience Shinjutsu. This ability allows him to see into the future and multiple timelines right as he is about to die. He reveals that he foresaw a future where Ishikki killed Naruto, resurrected in Kawaki's body and planted the divine tree. Another future they escaped was Kawaki killing Boruto and Sarada the day Naruto was sealed, leading Kawaki to lose to Code and a divine tree being planted.

Boruto And The World Escaped Destruction By A Hair's Length

Kashin Koji also says these scenarios had a very high probability of happening, and that he saw them in multiple timelines. Furthermore, what prevented these futures from happening is still unknown but could be important later on. There are a few possibilities that were consequential enough, such as Kawaki tapping into the shinobi life by learning ninjutsu, which was monumental in taking down Ishikki. Sarada stepping into the fight before Kawaki killed Boruto was also a very likely reason why Boruto is still alive, as her Fire Style: Fire Ball stopped Kawaki from delivering a deadly blow.

The coast isn't clear though, as Boruto had emphasized at the beginning of the series that a calamity was about to befall the world. This is the reason he was so desperate to locate Code's hideout, but it was too late as the Shinjus were birthed and Jura awakened. As devastating as these creatures are, Kashin Koji says there could be more coming soon, and the ending of the chapter shows this. Furthermore, Jura is supposed to kill Boruto in many futures, and to prepare him to avoid this, Kashin Koji taught Boruto all the techniques he would learn later on, accelerating his growth.

Boruto debuted one of its most menacing villains yet, Jura, and his origins are still shrouded in mystery, with a few theories floating around.

It's important to consider that while Kashin Koji possesses formidable abilities, they are not all-encoming. There are certain unpredictable events, such as Kurama reincarnating in Himawari, that even Kashin Koji's powers cannot foresee. Additionally, the limitations of Kashin Koji's abilities are evident in the fact that he was unable to pinpoint the precise location of Code's hideout.

The introduction of this incredible ability paves the way for many developments, such as Amado's shrewdness, Kawaki's next powerup and a great buildup to the fight between Boruto and Jura. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is dropping bombshells consistently, and with the current arc almost over, the future of the series will be interesting to read.
