Summary
- Boruto's next power-up may be Sage Mode, hinted at by his deadly Rasengan Uzuhiko and mentorship from Kashin Koji.
- Similar to Naruto and Minato, Boruto's potential Sage Mode could make him a force of nature in the series.
- The transformation to Sage Mode would not only level the playing field with Jura but also tie Boruto back to the Naruto series.
Although the young protagonist of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is plenty powerful as he is, the series is hinting at his next power-up that will make him even more formidable. Given how much he is outclassed by Jura, the new main villain, he needs a transformation that will up his stats and put him toe-to-toe with the mysterious villain.
There are a few scenes sprinkled throughout the series that hint at Boruto's next power. The first hint was the deadly Rasengan Uzuhiko and how it works, Kashin Koji's mentorship, and Boruto's trusty little sidekick, a frog. Putting everything together, it's likely that Boruto will soon showcase his own Sage Mode.
From Hashirama, Jiraiya, and Minato, to Naruto, the Sage Mode has been a force of nature and it seems Boruto is next in line for this supreme power-up. This will be yet another similarity he might have with Minato and Naruto, bringing the series back full circle.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Confirms The Best Theory About Boruto's Secret Ally
Boruto came back with Kashin Koji as an ally, and it seems there's one other iconic character who might have assisted him.
Boruto Has The Potential To Be A Sage
A Power Only Few Can Hope To Attain
The Rasengan Uzuhiko works the same way as Sage Mode: both utilize the chakra of the Earth and nature and can only be absorbed by remaining still, although the Uzuhiko can work as long as the feet are planted on the ground during activation. The only difference is that Sage Mode blends nature chakra with one's chakra, while Uzuhiko absorbs Earth's chakra and hits an opponent with it. The jutsu could have been born because of Boruto trying to learn Sage Mode.
Another reason is Boruto's new teacher: Kashin Koji, who is a clone of Jiraiya. Although Sasuke taught him many techniques, Kashin Koji helped him develop the Flying Raijin Jutsu and is most likely the reason Boruto uses toads in missions. Kashin Koji is one of the few perfect Sage Mode s, so it is not a stretch to think that he also helped Boruto in mastering this mode.

15 Most Powerful Jutsu in Naruto History
Naruto is a series known for its plethora of iconic techniques and jutsus. These are the most powerful jutsu to ever debut throughout Naruto.
Fans do know that Boruto will end up mastering the Karma powers and, hopefully, Jougan, but until then, a new transformation will level the playing field with Jura and assist Boruto. The only downside to Boruto acquiring Sage Mode would be it'd make Mitsuki a bit less special, but it will also continue the trend of Boruto taking up after his father and grandfather, and make Boruto: Two Blue Vortex feel more connected to the Naruto series.
