Boruto: Two Blue Vortex just gave Sarada Uchiha, Sasuke's daughter, a serious upgrade as she has finally uses the Mangekyo Sharingan in chapter #20 of the series. The ability comes in the middle of a high-intensity battle where emotions are running high. Alongside the standard range of abilities granted to Uchiha who unlock the Mangekyo, Sarada also seems to have used the ability to create some sort of black hole, hinting that her mastery of the Sharingan could be incredibly powerful.

In chapter #20 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada, Mistuki, Araya, and Yodo are facing Ryu, a twisted evil version of Shinki. Though Ryu offers to let the ninjas go if they give up information on Boruto, Sarada refuses, prompting Ryu to impale Yodo with his magnetic sand. A dying Yodo then prompts Sarada to unleash her true power. All of Ryu's sand is promptly sucked into a hole as Sarada reveals her Mengekyo Sharingan.

Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan Could Be The Franchise's Most Powerful Yet

The Mysterious Ability She Displays Looks Ridiculously Strong

Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan

In addition to the standard Sharingan abilities of letting the copy the jutsu of others, the Mangekyo Sharingan infers a number of benefits more unique to individual s. Of course Itachi, probably the most famous Mangekyo Sharingan and the first one fans saw in the original Naruto, used the ocular jutsu primarily to use unreasonably powerful genjutsu like Tsukuyomi. Multiple other Uchiha who unlocked the Mangekyo such as Sasuke have used it for god-tier jutsu like Susanoo and Amaterasu.

Though Two Blue Vortex chapter #20 is the first time fans have seen Sarada use her Mangekyo Sharingan, she actually unlocked it in Chapter #80 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

While it's a safe bet that Sarada's Mangekyo will give her access to abilities similar to those used by her father and uncle, the more intriguing possibility teased in Two Blue Vortex chapter 20 is new abilities. Sarada seemingly uses her Mangekyo Sharingan to create a black hole of sorts, an ability that would be unreasonably powerful. Space-Time Ninjutsu is one of the series' most powerful abilities, and Sarada gaining access to it would mark a substantial upgrade in power for the youngest Uchiha.

Our Take On Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan

Sarada Has Long Needed The Upgrade, But Is This Too Little Too Late?

Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan as seen in Bortuo anime

Sarada is an interesting character who hasn't gotten to do a whole lot in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex aside from worry about the title character, so the prospect of her unleashing the full might of the Mangekyo on Ryu is definitely exciting. Sarada has tremendous potential, both as a character and as a ninja, and it's been disappointing that the series hasn't given her much to do in Two Blue Vortex. Having her take down a sentient god-tree would be huge.

That being said, there are some niggling problems with the scene in Two Blue Vortex #20. While Yodo's potential death makes sense as a motivator for Sarada to go all out, Yodo's dying words about "protecting someone special" further cements the idea that Sarada's character is too centered on Boruto. While their connection is undeniably strong, it's frustrating that everything she does has to circle back to Boruto somehow.

Still, despite this problem, Sarada finally using her Mangekyo is a great development. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has been ramping up the tension, and Sarada's fight with Ryu will hopefully be a highlight that gives the series' most important female character a chance to finally cut loose and deliver a satisfying beatdown.
