more than a few disappointing details it still needs to fix.

One of the biggest problems with the story of the manga so far is the lack of attention and development that the original cast has suffered from. Ever since the series began, the of the previous generation, often considered by fans as some of the best characters in the franchise, have been almost entirely missing. Besides a few select ninjas, none of the original cast have played significant roles in the series.

Naruto’s Legacy Has Been Forgotten in Boruto

Many Beloved Ninjas Have Seemingly Vanished

As many fans of the Naruto franchise might be aware, the sequel series, Boruto, struggled to gain the same level of popularity as its predecessor during its original run. This low acceptance among the community came from several aspects, such as an overreliance on undeserved power-ups and opponents who the underpowered regular ninjas can not defeat. Two Blue Vortex, the second part of the story, has done an amazing job fixing these issues little by little, making it much more beloved among fans than the first half.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has given Sarada the development she deserves, evolving past fan criticism and becoming one of the best characters in Naruto.

Nonetheless, the manga still has one major issue that needs to be addressed, and it concerns some of the best and strongest ninjas Konoha has to offer: the original cast. Ever since the beginning of the sequel's story, the characters who enchanted entire generations of fans were suddenly removed from the series. Besides Shikamaru and Konohamaru, who have only been included due to their relevance to the plot, other iconic shinobi and kunoichi have been excluded without any apparent reason.

Sakura and Kakashi Have Been Particularly Wronged

They Deserve an Opportunity To Express Their Feelings

While a large majority of the original cast of the Naruto series have been affected by the decision to take the spotlight away from them, Sakura and Kakashi are the most egregious examples of this trend. While the events of the manga do not revolve around them per se, they are intrinsically linked with two key players of the manga: Naruto and Sasuke. The protagonists of the original series were more than just fellow ninjas; they were almost family to the two. Despite their closeness with the affected parties, neither has been given a chance to talk about it.

Sakura appears only once in the entire manga, in chapter 16, as she heals Inojin. During her appearance, nothing about her husband or best friend is mentioned, almost as if she has completely forgotten about them. This does not make sense, as, according to her memories, Sasuke ran away with the traitor who killed one of their closest friends. Kakashi has been mistreated far worse, as he has not even been depicted in the manga as of chapter 21.

Their Addition Would Not Overshadow the New Generation

As the story of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has progressed, many fans have noticed that the series might be trying to distance itself from legacy characters to give the new cast a chance to shine. While to a lesser extent, several readers complained about the regular interference of ninjas like Naruto and Sasuke, as their contributions tended to overshadow the children. An example of this is the battle between the Seventh Hokage and Isshiki, one of the best in the series, as the new heroes did not have the chance to defeat their strongest antagonist.

Even though it makes sense for the Boruto series to be attempting to keep its new cast in the spotlight, this is also not a reason to completely sideline the original heroes. Allowing characters like Sakura and Kakashi to express their emotions after such a traumatic event would not interfere with Boruto’s quest to defeat Jura. The legacy characters are by no means a threat to the Divine Trees, who have proven to be the franchise’s strongest villains. Due to this, giving them time to explain their thoughts and emotions would only serve to expand the world of the manga.

Naruto’s daughter, Himawari, has inherited Kurama and a wealth of abilities making her easily one of the strongest characters in Boruto.

The world of the Boruto manga is often changing, and it feels truly alive, but it recently lacks a human aspect. Lately, the only quiet moments that fans have been able to witness revolve around the same small group of protagonists, neglecting the rest of the Ninja World. Having old cast in relevant ing roles, some of whom are quite important to the franchise at large, would help the series feel more natural and would respect the legacy of former warriors like Sakura and Kakashi.
