A clip posted on Reddit features a crazy combo in manipulate Breath of the Wild’s physics started surfacing online soon after the game’s release in 2017.

Using the powers of Link’s Sheikah Slate (a tablet that holds the majority of Link’s abilities) to make flying contraptions is a popular theme across these clips. Using a combination of the Sheikah Slate’s powers, such as Stasis and Magnesis abilities, is featured in speedrunning techniques to fly directly to Hyrule Castle to face off against the final boss from the Great Plateau (the game’s starting area). In many cases, these are experiments done to test the game’s physics, but, in this case, a player made the Guardian fly on accident.

“Anyone know what happened here?” asked Reddit 54-Liam-26 in the Breath of the Wild subreddit alongside the video. In the video, Link uses the Cryonis rune to summon an ice pillar that lifts up a Guardian with no legs that was tipped over on its side onto a raft. Somehow, the raft then ascends into the air with the Guardian riding on top of it. The Guardian still tries to use its lasers to shoot Link from the air.

The top of the comments section for this video has turned into a Disney sing-along session as different s posted lyrics from the Aladdin song “A Whole New World” in succession. Other s replied with theories on how this chain of events happened within the game’s physics. One theorized that the raft started flying due to a glitch due to how the game calculates the direction of the force exerted from object to object based on where the object’s center. Because the game sees the raft’s center as the sail and, because the sail is taller than the Guardian, the sail must be pushing the raft up because the Guardian is lower than the raft’s center and the force the Guardian is pushing down is behaving incorrectly.

Seeing different videos of Breath of the Wild’s physics acting strangely has been a part of the joy of the game. The game tries to recreate the real world’s physics with painstaking detail and the physics are such an important part of gameplay, so it’s funny to see players manipulate the game, whether on purpose or incidentally, to make the world behave differently than intended. It remains to be seen if this is a one-time glitch or if players will be able to continue to give Guardians new fantastic points of view.
