New terrifying fan art shows season 2 coming to an explosive end this Friday, there are still plenty of unresolved plot points and character arcs that need to be resolved.
One character that seems close to snapping is Starr's Homelander. Homelander has long acted as the leader of The Seven, Vought's elite team of Supes. In addition, Homelander is easily one of the most powerful Supes introduced on The Boys, with abilities that include super strength, heat vision, and flight. However, while he's managed to woo the public thus far, Homelander is quickly revealed to audience as a psychopathic, murderous lunatic. From killing Madelyn Stillwell to bringing down an entire airplane, Homelander has shown his dangerously unhinged nature throughout both seasons of The Boys.
Graphic artist Rinsh has ed some frightening new art showing Starr as Superman. Rinsh has put Starr in Superman's red and blue suit, with the trademark "S" visible across Starr's chest. Starr's eyes are glowing bright red, which is a nod towards the heat vision that both Superman and Homelander possess. Finally, Rinsh has interlaid the background with both the American flag and a figure who appears to be Karl Urban as Lex Luthor. You can see Rinsh's stunning creation of Starr below:
There's something deeply unsettling about seeing Starr in Superman's costume, especially as Superman and Homelander could not be more different in temperament. Clark Kent, aka Superman, is one of the most well-known and powerful superheroes within DC. While his inhuman strength and speed mirror that of Homelander's, among other abilities, there's a key difference between the two heroes: Superman is undeniably a force for good. Whereas Homelander is a violent narcissist, Superman is shown as a pillar of justice. That being said, it's a testament to Starr's acting skills that even seeing him in Superman's suit is somewhat disconcerting.
With Homelander's new volatile relationship with Stormfront in the mix, it's clear that the season finale will be nothing short of epic. Now, Homelander not only has to worry about smoothing over his public image, but dealing with The Seven falling apart as well. In all honesty, it seems more than enough to drive anyone mad - or madder, in Homelander's case. As such, it'll be interesting to see how The Boys handles this final episode and if Homelander will finally be exposed for the killing machine that he is.
