Shonda Rhimes' the fake relationship trope well on the Netflix show.
It was only obvious that the show would get renewed for a second season, and with the sophomore Bridgerton due late March this year, fans have plenty of theories about who the show will focus on next, the fate of the fatherless Featheringtons, the mysterious Lady Whistledown and her operations, and how the lovely Daphne will be in the season. Some are quite wild, true to Bridgerton-style.
Eloise And Benedict Are Queer
Bridgerton is notoriously lacking in LGBTQ+ representation, so some fans believe that Eloise and Benedict might come out in the second season and make the story a lot more interesting and inclusive. Eloise, one of the best characters of Bridgerton, was seen checking out some ladies in the first season, so it's entirely possible that they might deviate from the books.
Benedict also is straight in the novels and ends up with a woman called Sophia, but viewers wouldn't mind if there's a twist in his romances and he ends up breaking up with Madame Delacroix and pursuing men in one of the "communal intimate gatherings" he goes to.
Colin And Penelope Will Get Together
With the ing of Baron Featherington and the need for a new heir, many people are convinced that the romance between Colin and Penelope may not be a long, slow burn one, but might make an appearance in season 2 itself. The need for a male heir and stability in the Featherington may spur them to get married or engaged at the very least.
In the books, their romance didn't develop till the fourth one, but the show might take a more fluid approach and lay the foundations for future romantic entanglements in the next season.
sca And Eloise Will Debut At The Same Time
As a feminist icon of her ton, Eloise had delayed her debut by a year, but it's almost certain that she will make her official entrance into society as a young woman in this season. Many predict that her coming-of-age, unlike Daphne's, may be a complete disaster because of her bluntness, but many also think that sca might debut with her.
It's possible because sca, who barely got any time on season 1, is only a year younger than Eloise, so this year would be the correct one for her to debut in. It will be interesting to see if that happens, and how the two will deal with debuting together, or if there will be any conflict for the family.
Lady Whistledown Has An Accomplice
The explosive finale of season 1 showed Penelope as Lady Whistledown, but it's almost impossible that she's working alone. Easily the most intelligent character on Bridgerton, Penelope definitely had the inner connections and access to people's secrets, but as a highly protected young lady in the 1800s, it would be difficult for her to set up a supply chain, pay the printers, and then collect money for her gossip rag.
This points out to a clear potential of a second Lady Whistledown operating with Penelope, maybe a man or an older woman with more agency, and helping her with it.
Daphne Will Spend Time Matchmaking And Meddling
After the release of the Bridgerton season 2 teaser, fans had several questions, of which Daphne's presence was a looming one. She will be present in the show, but since her romance was successful and ended in marriage and a child, there will be no Duke, so Daphne's role will evolve a fair bit in season 2.
Since her time as the Incomparable is over, it's predicted that she will spend a lot of time helping Lady Danbury and the Queen find suitable matches for the next season of girls, and may also take a little revenge on Anthony by meddling in his love story, the way he did in hers.
Marina's Father Will Inherit The Featherington Estate
Marina's entry was not welcome in the Featherington housegold, at least for their matriarch. Penelope liked her well enough, but coming into her daughter's fold and stealing their thunder annoyed Penelope's mother to no end. However, with the Baron dead, the next male in the family would own the estate, and that could very well be Marina's father.
Some fans think the heir to the Featherington fortune, or what was left of it, may also be Marina's unborn child, which will be revealed in season 2.
There Will Be A Love Triangle Between Edwina, Kate, And Anthony
As in the books, Anthony was first supposed to be with Edwina, but fell in love with Kate, her sister, instead. Fans are hoping that Edwina gets more screen time than she got pages in the books, and then the show could really dig deep into a heartwrenching love triangle between all of them, but with a happy ending for everyone, of course.
Edwina can end up with Mr. Bagwell, and Kate and Anthony could it their affection for each other in dramatic fashion. Fans are ready for some real romantic drama.
Sir Phillip And Marina's Marriage Will Be A Focal Point
Marina's fate was never entirely in her hands in season 1, and her one attempt at marrying Colin went awry when Lady Whistledown revealed her pregnancy to the whole ton. She ended up with Sir Phillip, the brother of the father of her child, and left in a carriage, but fans are certain that she will return.
Her marriage to Sir Phillip might become a point of focus in the show, and their slow adjustment to each other, which turns into love may be a big storyline, especially if she is tied to the Featherington estate.
