There has been very little news concerning the Lifetime follow-up in the years since the original film debuted, though star Angie Harmon did tease the sequels. In a 2022 interview (via Smashing Interviews), Harmon laid out her vision for the Buried in Barstow franchise, including "between six and eight" movies total. Harmon even related that filming was slated to begin in June 2022, but that never came to fruition. As it stands in late 2024, there's no guarantee that the sequel is going to happen.
