Activision has updated its free strategy guide for Call of Duty: Warzone, and the newest content shows an exclusive peak at the new Rebirth Island map. This comes in time with the release of Season One, which will be coming on December 16 to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
The arrival of Season One of Black Ops Cold War has been long awaited for some time now. It’s already what could be in store for them when the date rolls around.
One item that is coming to Warzone is a brand new map for players to fight on, called Rebirth Island. Activision has revealed a new section of its Warzone atlas, giving players a peak at what they could be expecting when the first day of season one comes. The background of the island is that it’s part prison, part chemical bioweapons manufacturing, and testing facility, so players can only imagine what kind of buildings and areas might be available to play on it. Some examples of the new settings players will be battling it out in include “barracks, decontamination areas, and a hilltop prison.” The Rebirth Island entry also gives players a detailed map of the new battlefield as well as some images, which may be enough to get savvy players already planning their strategies.
There are also two new gulag experiences that have been added into Call of Duty: Warzone. One is only available during specific game modes, and the other is a new Verdansk prison that the player has to fight their way through to get back to the game. The new gulags will offer the same gulag experience that someone would typically imagine but made better - at least in the developer’s words.
The Rebirth Island map will be smaller than the normal map that has been played in Call of Duty: Warzone, with the big focus being the prison that’s right smack in the middle and many other smaller areas on the outside. However, smaller doesn’t always mean it’ll be worse, so for people who like close-quarters combat and quicker games, this type of map might be for them. Fortunately, players have almost no time left to wait to see if this new map suits them better than Verdansk.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone are available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
