Infinity Ward is taking down cheaters in Infinity Ward added Warzone mode to the game, a 150-player battle royale with its own unique twists on the "last team standing" formula that has dominated online multiplayer games for the past several years.
Unfortunately, the mode has been under attack by cheaters on PC, who use illegal tactics like aimbots to get an unfair advantage. After months of letting these players effectively ruin the game, Infinity Ward is finally cracking down on cheaters by banishing them to their own unique servers, as recently mentioned on Twitter. If the system works properly, Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters will only be able to play with other offenders, allowing regular players to enjoy the game without being hassled by pesky cheaters.
This fix has been a long time coming, and it's hopefully not too late for Warzone. Over a decade after the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare revolutionized online multiplayer across both console and PC, Call of Duty is still immensely popular. Warzone has become a destination for friends to team up online, and with Infinity Ward finally moving to protect its playerbase from cheaters, the game mode should only get better as 2020 continues.
