Call of Duty: Warzone has undergone plenty of changes and updates over the years, and Black Ops 6 is bringing yet another Season 1 of content to the game. As the Call of Duty take on the battle royale format, Warzone brings the franchise's signature gunplay and personality to a larger arena where death is permanent. It also expanded to a new platform this year with Warzone Mobile, which also receives updates that aren't completely synchronized with the PC and console version of the game.

Some of the Warzone changes are directly integrated with Black Ops 6, as features like the loadout system and omnimovement can be found across both games. Other content additions have been created specifically for Warzone, like a new map and additional game modes. Those who like how Black Ops 6 has been going so far should find plenty to enjoy in Warzone Season 1, while fans who haven't taken the plunge into the new title can still expect some exciting changes.

As announced on the official Call of Duty blog, Warzone Season 1 starts on November 14, a synchronized release with the start of Season 1 in Black Ops 6. All the launch content goes live at 9AM PT globally across all platforms, so finding a lobby shouldn't be any trouble in any mode. Some mid-season content like Ranked Play won't come until later on, but most of the biggest additions should be immediately available.

Returning Options & A New Map

The brand-new map for Warzone Season 1 is Area 99, which ties into the lore of the classic Call of Duty map Nuketown. Like the infamous Area 51, Area 99 is a top-secret government testing site in Nevada, although the focus here is on radiation. The map contains everything from an undergound bunker to the factory that produced the buildings found in Nuketown. Area 99 is likely full of Easter eggs for long-time Call of Duty fans, but it also looks primed to be more than a nostalgia trip.

Everything to expect from Black Ops 6 Season 1 at launch and in mid-season updates, from new multiplayer maps and modes to Zombies additions.

Warzone Season 1's two returning maps are Urzikstan, which will be available at launch, and Rebirth Island, which is more loosely slated to debut within the launch window. The map features a large-scale metropolis in the fictional country from the Modern Warfare series, returning after its appearance in Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 last year. The Alcatraz-like Rebirth Island is also nothing new in 2024, serving as a nexus for Resurgence Modes in the Black Ops 6 Season 1 for Warzone.

Area 99 will also be home to Resurgence gameplay, which features 44 or 45 players in each lobby depending on the squad sizes. The 120-person Battle Royale and Plunder modes, meanwhile, will be available on Urzikstan. Seasonal and limited-time modes will appear along with Ranked Play as the season progresses, but details on what to expect haven't been confirmed yet.

Black Ops 6 Features In Call Of Duty: Warzone Season 1

Omnimovement & More Come To Warzone

The biggest new combat feature in Warzone Season 1 is Black Ops 6's omnimovement, which lets players sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. Although it's still possible to play the game in a generally traditional manner, taking full advantage of omnimovement can open up new opportunities to dodge enemy bullets and catch them by surprise. In theory, it can be highly tactical, but it can also simply throw a little more chaos into the mix.

Loadouts are also getting a Warzone update with Season 1. A UI overhaul brings the system in line with Black Ops 6, and there's plenty of new equipment available, including everything from Black Ops 6 multiplayer. It's still possible to Prestige in Warzone without owning Black Ops 6, and like in that game, the classic Prestige system is back.

Perks, equipment, modes, and maps aren't yet on the Season 1 lineup for Warzone Mobile, but they're also mentioned as eventual additions.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is an average shooter hampered by technical issues and an extremely greedy monetization model that is hard to overlook.

Warzone Mobile also getting UI and menu changes. Without the clear template that carries over between Black Ops 6 and the PC/console version of Warzone, however, those may not look quite as familiar as the updates on PC and console will. The end goal, however, is to synchronize all versions of the game as closely as possible.

Black Ops 6 Season 1 is bringing some of the biggest changes to Warzone since the release of Warzone 2.0, so it's definitely not the time for any dedicated players to take a break. Mastering omnimovement should be plenty of fun on its own, to say nothing of all the new content additions and progression goals. Things might not be quite as immediately exciting on the mobile front, but there's still plenty to look forward to in Season 1 for Call of Duty: Warzone players across any platform.
