Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Aliens vs Avengers #2The latest issue of Marvel's The Incredible Hulk the most tragic and equally epic last stand against a horde of xenomorphs. A must-see for Alien and Marvel fans alike, Alien vs Avengers has begun with Earth already doomed, leaving the last remains of humanity with very few options beyond abandoning their world entirely. To that end, Captain America and Hulk's final team-up in this dark alternate universe is certainly one for the ages.
In Aliens vs Avengers #2 by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, the planet is nearly overrun by xenomorphs after this version of Earth was seeded by David 8. The sinister synth created by Peter Weyland and played by Michael Fassbender in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, David 8 and his fellow synths have been conquering the entire multiverse, seeding planets with xenomorphs world by world, and this includes an alternate Marvel Universe in its distant future. To that end, elderly versions of Captain America and Bruce Banner's Hulk are among the last heroes standing:
Unable to wait for Captain America and The Hulk, Tony Stark and a few other aged heroes like Captain Marvel and Miles Morales barely escape the planet in time with their small colony of humans, having had no choice but to leave Rogers, Banner, and many other doomed souls behind lest they risk exposure to the xenomorphs and their brutal life cycle.
Captain America Arrived Too Late (But It Didn't Matter)
Fighting Till The Very End
Having constructed an entire colony ship to save humanity beneath one of the final cities still standing on Earth, Tony Stark had already begun the launch sequence when Captain America and so many survivors were seen arriving in the city's edge. However, they were far too late to board. Refusing to surrender even in the face of insurmountable odds, Captain America is shown holding off several of the incredibly lethal creatures with his shield, regardless of the inevitable fate awaiting himself and those he'd been trying to save.

Avengers vs Aliens Reveals the 1 Marvel Hero Who's Immune to Xenomorphs
The dark crossover between Alien and Marvel has revealed that one former villain, current hero, is immune to the Xenomorph, as Venom saves the day.
On the one hand, it's rather fitting that Captain America would be one of the last Avengers standing to fight for Earth. That said, his entire last stand is incredibly dark and made even more tragic with the confirmation that the fight was already lost before he'd even begun fighting the xenomorphs who'd begun swarming the city's edge. However, it is nice that he didn't have to fall alone in Alien vs Avengers #2.
The Hulk Had No Choice But To Captain America
Anything Less Would Have Been Monstrous
Despite Stark's protests that it wouldn't do any good, Bruce Banner is shown leaping from the colony ship and into the fray as The Incredible Hulk. Having determined that letting Rogers die alone would have been monstrous, Hulk's sacrifice is noble even if it ultimately doesn't make a difference to humanity's ongoing survival. Nevertheless, Captain America and Hulk taking on an entire horde of xenomorphs as long as they can has to be one of their most impressive team-ups in the entire multiverse. That said, it is tragic that two more Avengers have been lost in this new series that's thus far only released two issues.
Aliens vs Avengers #2 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
