Marvel/Disney continues to tease the new title for the sequel to Captain Marvel, as The Marvels gets a sleek new logo update. The update is the latest in a storm of Marvel news, as the studio presents all of their plans now that audiences are getting ready to go back into theaters. Ideally, the sleek new logo for The Marvels will help keep audiences invested until the film premieres.

After the tepid response to Captain Marvel from a few fans and critics, Marvel decided to change course with the sequel and add other fan-favorite heroes to the series. Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, will be ing after her series debuts on Disney+, and Monica Rambeau, a.k.a. Spectrum, will also be part of the team after her adventures in WandaVision (which also served as the origin story for her powers). From this powered team, most likely led by Carol Danvers, who fans can assume inspired the other two toward their heroic destinies,  comes the title of The Marvels.

After the initial announcement of the altered title for the Captain Marvel sequel, Carol's signature energy powers. Now the logo looks less like it is against a lens flare and more like it is being propelled forward by energy released by Captain Marvel.

The Marvels is intended to be the 31st film in the MCU, and both a sequel to Captain Marvel and the Ms. Marvel series on Disney+Kamala Khan ties to Carol Danvers in the comics; when Kamala first discovers her shapeshifting abilities, she decides to take on the mantle of "Ms. Marvel" to emulate Carol, her idol. Audiences will likely see a similar story play out in the Disney+ series. Monica Rambeau was first seen in the MCU as a child in the first Captain Marvel film, where it is established that her mom and Carol Danvers were best friends, and Carol is a kind of aunt/ parental figure to Monica.

It is fascinating to see the logo change to put Carol's powers back at the center literally. There has been some speculation since the name change that focus might be shifting away from Carol Danvers in the second movie, and this seems to imply that Captain Marvel will still be the focal point of the sequel. This only makes sense, as the first movie was her origin story, and The Marvels is really where Carol should be able to shine (no pun intended) and show off the type of hero she is now.
