Captain Marvel's Power is Great, But So Are Her Weaknesses
Blood Hunt Will Push Captain Marvel to Her Limits
In of sheer power, very few heroes in the Marvel Universe can rival Captain Marvel. Thanks to her unique human/Kree biology, Captain Marvel can fly. It also gives her super strength and endurance as well. Her powers go beyond this, however. Captain Marvel can also manipulate and absorb energy. Carol Danvers’ arc through the Marvel Universe is an inspiring one, going from Air Force officer to leader of the Avengers. She has grown in power over the years, and prior to Blood Hunt #1, it seemed very little could stop her.
Captain Marvel’s battle with the Smoke Eater highlights one of her biggest weaknesses: psychic attacks. In their words, the Smoke Eater eats “spirits.” What exactly this means is left vague, but Captain Marvel is clearly under great mental stress. It proves too much for Captain Marvel, and signals not only her defeat, but that of her teammates in the Avengers as well. Captain Marvel is powerful on a physical level, and the circumstances of her life have fortified her mentally as well. Yet the Smoke Eater, a supernatural entity, was capable of overrunning the barriers Captain Marvel put in place.

Even Captain Marvel's Powers Can't Cope with [SPOILER]'s All-Powerful New Weapon

Captain Marvel Must Find a Way to Resist Mental Attacks
Other Villains Could Easily Exploit Captain Marvel's Weakness
Captain Marvel and the Avengers will inevitably survive Blood Hunt, and her defeat at the hands of the Smoke Eater should be a wake-up call for Carol. Her sheer power and strength make physical attacks nearly impossible, but the Smoke Eater pointed out a quick way to take Captain Marvel out of commission: through her mind. A number of Marvel villains (and heroes) use psychic attacks, and any one of them could easily incapacitate Captain Marvel. For all Captain Marvel’s great power, she possesses a huge weakness her foes could exploit.
