[Genis-Vell is] not just disappointed, he's enraged by the destruction of the Nega-Bands, feeling betrayed by Captain Marvel, outright telling her he's not sure if he can forgive this offense.
Genis-Vell made his return to Marvel in Captain Marvel #1, at the start of this run. However, his return was an unceremonious one as he was attacked by the villain Omen, in her relentless quest for the Nega-Bands. After cutting off his hands, she kills him and turns him into her mindless zombie minion. As he fails her, he's soon killed again, but revived once Captain Marvel defeats Omen in Captain Marvel #10. Sadly, he doesn't have time to celebrate his next chance at life, as he's startled at the fact the Nega-Bands are missing.
his close friend Rick Jones is enough to cheer Genis-Vell up. He's not just disappointed, he's enraged by the destruction of the Nega-Bands, feeling betrayed by Captain Marvel, outright telling her he's not sure if he can forgive this offense. He tells his friends – or perhaps former friends – that he needs space to himself before he literally turns his back on them.
It's clear that Genis-Vell is in no mood to be friends with Captain Marvel, but whether he could become her enemy remains an open question.
"Captain Marvel" Could Be Foreshadowing An Unexpected Villain Turn For Genis-Vell
A Heartbreaking Potential Threat To Carol Danvers
It's clear that Genis-Vell is in no mood to be friends with Captain Marvel, but whether he could become her enemy remains an open question. He directly blames her for his loss, and he's so devastated that it's hard to tell if space could mend their newfound friction. He was already something of a nemesis while mind-controlled by the Undone and Omen, but to be a villain of his own free will could make Genis all the more dangerous. Not only is he powerful, but giving Captain Marvel a familiar friend to fight could raise the stakes in the future, affecting how she fights.
Captain Marvel #10 is available now from Marvel Comics.
