However, he's not down for the count. Deadshot and Jon Kent get into a fight and to keep it from going way too far, Catman stabs Deadshot, demanding to know who Dreamer is and why she's connected to Amanda Waller.

Catman is Back and He's Never Looked More Intimidating

The One-Time Joke Villain is More Terrifying Than Ever

A bloodied Catman wearing his battered suit in DC's comics.

Back in the day, Thomas Blake was more of a joke villain than anything else, a thief who took inspiration from Catwoman and Batman to create his own unique identity. While Catman was rarely taken seriously for years, he went through a major change in the mid-2000s when he began serving on the mercenary team, the Secret Six. Working alongside other anti-heroes and villains, Catman showed that he was a real force to be reckoned with. Not only was the previous Batman rogue a skilled fighter and proficient with weapons, Catman had a ferocity that simply couldn't be contained.

Unfortunately, Catman hasn't been able to stay in the spotlight much after the last time Secret Six had a comic. But as one of, if not the iconic member of the team, it only makes good sense to bring him back for this new volume. Not to mention he's gotten some serious upgrades since he was last seen. Now Blake has an intimidating cloak and a big cat-like cowl with intimidating red eyes. Not to mention, Catman has traded in his old knives for gauntlets that give him razor-sharp claws to attack enemies (or even friends) with.

Catman's New Appearance Perfectly Captures What Made Him Work the Last Time

Blake Still Has the Fire and Animal Instinct That Fans Love

Siure, Catman might not be an A-lister, but he's got a dedicated fanbase that is most assuredly happy to see him back. But more than just having him back, the creative team understands what makes a character like Blake work. It's not just the costume or the commitment to his animal gimmick, it's his intense, almost primal nature when it comes to hunting and fighting. He's an amazingly deep character and his appearance here shows that he's still the same character he was as when the DC Comics villain was reinvented nearly twenty years ago.
