Warning: Contains spoilers for Catwoman #66!!
Catwoman has been a staple in DC Comics for decades, acting as both a cunning villain and a sometimes-hero fighting at Batman’s side. Following her death in the Gotham War, and subsequent return, she’s been dealing with something a bit more on the supernatural side. She is seemingly immortal, but the fragments of the meteor that are keeping her alive will eventually kill her permanently.
In Catwoman #66 – written by Tini Howard, with art by Carmine Di Giandomenico – the brutal after effects of the Gotham War continue to settle in for Selina Kyle. The meteor that grants Vandal Savage his immortality both killed and resurrected her, and they’ve allowed her to skirt death several times since. Now, she is beginning to experience debilitating headaches and knows real death is on the horizon.
Selina's current predicament isn't her only brush with immortality, as Batman Returns.

Catwoman Is Living On Borrowed Time As Her Immortality Reaches Its Limit
Catwoman #66 – Written By Tini Howard; Art By Carmine Di Giandomenico, Ivan Shavrin, Veronica Gandini, & Tom Napolitano
The meteor may have granted Catwoman "nine lives", but it's becoming clear that it won't offer her a peaceful end. Unlike her Batman Returns counterpart, she can't hang onto her second chance.
Selina Kyle makes a living off dancing close to death. She's one of the world's greatest cat burglars, leaving some of the world's greatest heroes and villains scrambling to catch up. Her luck ran out in the Gotham War storyline. Though Jason Todd crashed the Batwing into the meteor, mitigating a large amount of damage, it wasn't enough to save Catwoman. She died at the crash site, brief though that death was, and it left her changed. Now, Scandal Savage has revealed that she hears a piece of that meteor embedded inside Selina that must be removed.
Since her resurrection, Selina has been plagued with strange visions and dreams, which eventually segued into headaches so intense she lamented the possibility of dying of an aneurysm in the middle of a mission. The meteor may have her Batman Returns counterpart, she can't hang onto her second chance; it is currently unclear how the meteor fragment may be removed from her brain, or what damage it may cause on its way out, but it's the only shot Catwoman has at staying alive.
Catwoman's nine lives are up, as the meteor's effects take hold, and she'll need to act fast to survive the thing that saved her.
Catwoman Has One Life Left To Life Before Her Death Is Permanent
Selina Is Watching Her Odds Of Survival Diminish
If Selina Kyle is anything, she's a fighter. She's self-taught, self-sufficient, and never fully relies on anyone but herself. Still, there are people in the world she cares about and bridges that need mended – especially in Gotham. She's never been one to simply accept her fate. Whether Scandal has an idea of how to remove the fragment, or Selina has to search for answers herself, it's unlikely that this is the true end of her story. Catwoman's nine lives are up, as the meteor's effects take hold, and she'll need to act fast to survive the thing that saved her.
Catwoman #66 is available now from DC Comics.
