The Chainsaw Man has been awarded 2021's best manga in the Harvey Awards. Created by Tatsuki Fujimoto, this manga began serialized since 2018 and has sold over 11 million copies. Now, it is being celebrated by the comic community for its success and well-received story.

This isn't Chainsaw Man's first award. It has also received the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen manga. The series has been nominated for many other awards, though it has tended to finish under other manga - until now. The story follows a guy named Denji who works as a devil hunter and merges with his dog, Pochita - a chainsaw devil. He becomes a devil-human hybrid as a result.

Regarding the series' accomplishment, mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto said:

Thank you for the insanely awesome award! It's the best award of any awards that exist in America! I consider this crude manga of mine unbefitting of any award, but I plan to continue packing it full of all the things that I love.

If you ever happen to be handing out awards again, hit me up! Thank you very much!

The Harvey Awards have been part of the comic industry since 1988. They are voted on by professionals within the industry, making it a very prestigious award. The best manga category, unlike the Shogakukan Manga Award, is not divided up into reader demographics. Chainsaw Man competed against predominantly seinen manga, with Spy x Family being the only other shōnen entry. Winning the best manga award over horror master Junji Ito is also no easy feat!

Chainsaw Man is serialized by Weekly Shōnen Jump - one of the most popular manga publications in North America. It has proven to be a highly popular series and though its first part wrapped up in December of 2020, a second has been announced. The next chapter of this story will still focus on the main protagonist, Denji. An anime adaptation of the series has also been announced. Harvey Award-winning Chainsaw Man excels in its portrayal of a violent story that employs dark humor and its popularity will likely only increase as the series expands.
