Though it might not seem like it from the first half of the year, 2025 is shaping up to be an incredible time for fans of Chainsaw Man. Part 2 of the manga is continuing at a breakneck pace, introducing the series' final villain alongside an absolutely metal new version of Chainsaw Man. It's difficult to deny that the manga is marching toward its conclusion at this point, and though fans may be split on it, the series is still delivering huge revelation after huge revelation.

In addition to the manga, there's also the impending release of Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc on September 19th. The Reze Arc is a fan favorite in the manga and introduces one of the series' most beloved characters, the titular Reze. The trailers for it have all been thrilling, so there's a great deal of hope that the film will meet or even somehow exceed fans' wildest expectations.

While the wait for Chainsaw Man's movie might be agonizing, the new Blu-ray release is an exciting stopgap. Though a Blu-ray set for the series' first season is available in other regions, there has been no physical release for Chainsaw Man in North America. Given the series' massive popularity, this seemed an odd choice, though Chainsaw Man's poor Blu-ray sales in Japan might have played a role in this decision. Luckily, Chainsaw Man's devoted fanbase now has an official release to display on their shelves with pride.

Chainsaw Man's North American Blu-ray Release Is A Great Sign

The Roll Out For The Series Shows Great Confidence In It

Now that streaming is the way most fans consume anime, physical releases are increasingly becoming a novelty. While a Blu-ray release for any even moderately sized anime might be a foregone conclusion in Japan, in North America, it is far from guaranteed even for massive series. Though this might be disappointing for fans who like showing off their taste in anime with something tangible, it makes it all the more noteworthy when an anime giant like Crunchyroll rolls out the red carpet for a series' home media release.

Despite these understandable fears, though, MAPPA's CEO already confirmed that Chainsaw Man's first season was a massive success for them. Anime is an expensive business, meaning it's more important than ever to directly studios where possible. Any fan of Chainsaw Man should consider it an honor to own a physical sign of that .
