The clever fan theory takes into the length of time that elapsed between past Chainsaw Man releases to predict when season two may be announced officially, and when it will reach streaming services. Chainsaw Man's manga, written by Tatsuki Fujimoto, ran for two years, from December 2018 to December 2020, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. In December 2020, the same month the manga's run concluded, the anime adaption of Chainsaw Man was officially announced, and it was revealed that MAPPA would be the studio that would bring the series to life onscreen.
One year and ten months ed between the announcement of the anime and the anime's release, which occurred in October 2022. Chainsaw Man's first movie, which finally received an official release date during Anime Japan 2025, will come out in Japan on September 19, 2025. The movie is expected to be released worldwide around December 2025, since it typically takes longer for anime films to be distributed internationally outside of Japan. The Reze Arc movie was first announced in December 2023, meaning there will be a one-year and nine-month gap between this announcement and the movie's release in September 2025.

After the December 2026 announcement, if the studio takes a similar amount of time to adapt the season as it did for past releases, a little under two years, fans can expect to see Chainsaw Man season two in late December 2028, over three years away, which is quite a substantial wait.

It has been a long time coming, but Chainsaw Man's first movie just dropped its first update.
There is no guarantee that the new season of Chainsaw Man will play out according to this schedule, since MAPPA has not confirmed anything related to the franchise other than the Reze Arc film's release date as of right now. MAPPA has a number of releases slated for 2025 and beyond, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, which will likely debut in the next couple of years as well. With such a packed schedule, the wait for Chainsaw Man season 2 might be fairly long, but for a series as amazing as Chainsaw Man, it will be worth the wait.
