With the newest season of The Challenge, titled The Challenge: Ride or Dies, fans are waiting to see which player or team will be unfairly taken out of the running to win, as this seems to happen at least once every season.
Whether it comes to who is partnered with whom, one of TJ’s big twists, or being blindside-voted into elimination, it’s never clear who will be robbed of the final win — or when or why. But fans on Reddit have strong opinions about who's been done dirtiest in the past.
Johnny “Bananas” and Theresa Jones
Cutthroat
Bananas and Theresa nominated themselves for elimination because they felt good about taking out Tyler and Tori, except TJ had something different in mind. As the first of Challenge mercenary elimination, this can’t be forgotten after the “Bananas Backpack” moment.
Bananas and Theresa had an uphill battle against CT and Tina or Tyler and Tori. Despite that fact, OverwhelmedAutism felt they were further wronged after competing against mercenaries first, putting them at a greater disadvantage, Bananas and Theresa “had a good chance against [Tyler and Tori] compared to how the mercenaries worked.”
Landon Lueck
Duel 2
As one of the strongest and kindest competitors from early Challenge seasons, it still frustrates the audience how Landon was eliminated in Duel 2 right before the final after being a top competitor for most of the season.
Bigugly20 says Landon uniquely robbed himself as he was voted into the last elimination “because he was a nice guy and volunteered to get a hat for everyone to pick names out of. Possibly the only reason he’s not 4 for 4 in winning season.” Once he left the room and gave everyone a chance to discuss their vote, it was over for Landon.
CT and Veronica Portillo
Final Reckoning
Two of the best players to ever play the game were eliminated without competing in an elimination during Final Reckoning. CT and Veronica being purged and immediately sent to the redemption house, was shocking enough, but leaving the game by chance was even worse.
One Redditor says, “By luck of the draw, [CT and Veronica] didn't get picked to participate in an elimination. A team with two multi-time champs was sent home without ever seeing an elimination.” Their elimination was solely luck-based. It wasn’t about their skill or not having what it took a certain day to earn their spot back in the game.
Tori Deal
War of the Worlds 2
Having earned her place as one of the best Challenge contestants from Are You The One, despite never winning a season, Tori came close to the title of champion during her time on War of the Worlds 2.
Tori was one of the stronger competitors that season and with her game all around, she should have been able to win the final. However, K-dani-b points out, “That final mini purge just kind of screwed her over.” While that mini purge eliminated more than just Tori, being purged on the final’s last day because of a puzzle felt wrong.
Wes Bergmann
Battle of the Exes 2
Any time The Challenge gods have robbed Wes was up for discussion, but overwhelmingly, Redditors brought up his time on Exes 2. After being one of the stronger solo competitors and teams with Theresa, Wes’s time on The Challenge ended too early that season.
The main part of his journey this season that Redditors got stuck on was explained perfectly by Polish_wizard, who wrties, “Wes is literally the only cast member who didn’t get a chance at redemption on Exes 2…” It’s simple as that. Even Wes’ teammate Theresa had a chance at redemption and placed second that season.
Nehemiah Clark
Rivals
Nehemiah and Evan’s rivalry wasn’t eased after Rivals. No matter how well the team was positioned throughout the game, it all quickly fell apart after Evan threw a challenge. Specific_Ad_726 writes, “Evan threw a challenge to get sent into elimination against CT and got them sent home.”
Evan doing everything in his power to get sent home didn’t only take himself out of the game. Nehemiah in Rivals shows the importance of having a teammate that wants to compete because if they don’t, it’s only a matter of time before the whole team is home.
Nany Gonzalez
War of the Worlds
Nany is one competitor fans want to see on the show again until she gets her well-deserved win. In War of the Worlds, Nany seemed to have a fair shot until it became an individual game where Nany was sent into the first solo elimination.
Nany selected Wes to tape up Georgia because Georgia chose Turbo before both women had to escape. OverwhelmedAutism believes “Turbo's experience helped as Georgia was able to get out of Wes' poor tape job instantly. ... Nany could barely move. She was sitting pretty and would've made the final.” Nany was sent home after Wes lost an elimination to her ex-teammate Turbo.
Wes Bergmann and Kenny Stantucci
Rivals
In one of the most difficult finals in Challenge history, all of Wes and Kenny’s lead after day one didn’t translate to the next day. This is one moment Redditor’s couldn’t get over because they had a massive lead and were allowed seconds to start before other teams on the second day.
Interestingly, one Redditor doesn’t feel too bad about this robbery considering that Wes and Kenny weren’t the strongest team the entire season, but “having a big lead in the final and having it diminished never sits well. It has happened in other seasons, but this one was one felt worse.”
Joss Mooney and Sylvia Elsrode
Final Reckoning
Continuing Joss’ bad luck on The Challenge, Final Reckoning didn’t go any better for him as he and Sylvia gave Ashley and Hunter a run for their money in the final. Caramelodasilva is one Redditor who feels strongly about this season’s ending, saying, “Joss and Sylvia, who won Final Reckoning and got screwed.”
The only thing that Joss and Sylvia from winning the money was their team having a grenade thrown at them, adding time to their final run time where it ends up at 69 minutes and 43 seconds compared to Ashley and Hunter’s winning time of 69 minutes and 3 seconds.
Sarah Rice
Battle of the Exes and Rivals 2
Surprisingly, Sarah’s robberies were solely discussed alongside each other. Redditor’s couldn’t help but emphasize the fact that overall, she had been unfairly sent home multiple times due to her partners and had half the prize money of Rivals 3 taken from her by Bananas.
The biggest robbery in all of The Challenge, according to Putrid_Ad155, was “Sarah Rice getting sent home early TWICE due to her crappy partners, Vinny and Trishelle.” Sarah has more than proven what she’s capable of with the right partner, but she had two seasons taken from her that she couldn’t make up.
