Warning! Spoilers ahead for Champions #1
Marvel Comics has begun an all-new Miles Morales are in favor of fighting the law, wanting to continue helping those in need while evading the government's federal task force, others aren't so sure. Not only that, but the police are getting involved as well, trying to arrest superheroes, almost catching Miles in the first issue of the new series.
In Champions #1, from writer Eve L. Ewing with art by Simone Di Meo, Ms Marvel has decided to publicly speak out on behalf of her fellow Champions, sharing that they will fight Kamala's Law, which the the Outlaw Generation.
As the issue continues, Miles Morales is on his way to meet with other underage heroes to talk about what's happening and how they should all proceed going forward, now that the law has been ed. Deciding to do some patrolling on the way, Miles tries to help a woman from getting her purse stolen, when it's revealed that the altercation is a trap, a sting operation set up by the police to catch and arrest young heroes like Miles.
While Miles is able to pretty easily get away, he does hear the cops complain that they weren't able to catch him. Apparently if they can't get their arrest numbers up, the new task force to take on underage superheroes known as C.R.A.D.L.E. will take over their jurisdiction. Naturally, the fact that the cops and feds are going to be duking it out in a petty turf war is pretty frustrating for Miles.
After dodging the cops and almost getting arrested, Miles makes it to the secret meeting of underage heroes, just in time for the the debating to begin about what they should do, and tensions start to rise. However, they don't have long to bicker before C.R.A.D.L.E. arrives to try and arrest them, as someone sold them all out. While many of the teens get clear and escape, heroes like the Wasp and Bombshell weren't so lucky. With the cops and the feds closing in from all sides, and a mole providing them with intel, it seems like The Champions are facing some pretty insurmountable odds. Hopefully they'll be able to put up a unified front, and make the adults realize that there's so many much more important things to do that contain the heroes that will one day be the future.
