Android s looking to check the current battery level of their paired are unavailable on Android right out of the box. Luckily, Android's robust pool of third-party app developers has created tools to help fill the gap.
Though a slew of apps on the Google Play Store claims to offer additional functionality to AirPods on Android, not all are up to the task. For s that want to see their AirPods' current battery life on their Android smartphone, connected to an Android smartphone with MaterialPods enabled, an overlay will appear showing the current battery life of both the AirPods and their case.
Get Started With MaterialPods (Or See Other Options)
To start using MaterialPods, first search for and install the app from the Google Play Store. Open the app and follow the on-screen prompts to give the app the necessary system permissions. Three permissions are needed: to connect to and view recent Bluetooth devices (to maintain a device list and show battery life), to show pop-ups over Android (to show battery life over other apps), and to ignore battery-saving restrictions (to ensure the app keeps running). Unlike other apps, MaterialPods only asks for the permissions needed to show AirPods' battery life.
After the permissions are granted, MaterialPods will show the battery life of recently-paired AirPods when connected. To check the battery life of AirPods at any time, open the MaterialPods app and tap the red button at the bottom center of the screen. This will manually open the battery interface, displaying the current percentage.
Other apps are available, like s on the Play Store.
There are plenty of apps that can show AirPods' battery life on Android smartphones, but MaterialPods is the best choice.
