Following the launch of Motorola, which has a dedicated site to check if the update will be available for its phones. Unfortunately, when it comes to software updates, Motorola is not among the forerunners. Most of its devices don't get past one OS upgrade before they are abandoned, save for flagships which sometimes get two OS upgrades.
It appears it has begun to make amends starting with the new Motorola Edge (2022), which it says will receive three years of OS upgrades and four years of security updates. However, it is still trailing behind Samsung, which provides four years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates for its flagships and some mid-range phones. It is also still a step behind Google's Pixel smartphones which are eligible for three years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
When Will The Android 13 Update Arrive?
After choosing the phone's product family, scroll to select the phone from the list of available devices. It should open a page showing details such as when the phone was released; when it will stop receiving security updates; what Android OS version it launched with, and what its next OS version will be. For devices that are eligible to receive Android 13, such as the Motorola Edge+ (2022), the next OS version should have Android 13 written in front of it.
While the site allows s to confirm if their device will be upgraded to Android 13, it doesn't say when the update will arrive. Motorola has never been quick with the release of new OS upgrades, so it is expected that the Android 13 update will arrive for eligible devices over the next several months, even extending into 2023.
