Summary
- A variant cover for Absolute Power #3 teases an epic battle between Diana and her newest villain.
- The AMAZO/Batman of Zur-en-Arrh hybrid controlled by Amanda Waller may be Wonder Woman's ultimate match.
- The AMAZO-N's debut fills a gap in Wonder Woman's storyline after Cheetah's transformation into an ally.
Cheetah may stand as Wonder Woman’s most iconic villain, but despite her prominence, she has never truly bested the Amazon Princess. In fact, none of Diana Prince’s adversaries can claim to be her equal. However, a new villain looms on the horizon, promising a long-awaited 'fight to the death.' Fans are left questioning: Will Wonder Woman prevail as she has against all others, or will this new adversary finally prove to be her match?
The combination of Amazo technology, Batman’s intelligence, and Waller’s ambitions makes the AMAZO-N an exceptionally formidable foe.
On September 4, 2024, Mark Waid and Dan Mora’s summer event, Absolute Power, will be in full swing with the release of Absolute Power #3. The synopsis for the issue intriguingly hints at the heroes of the DCU seeking refuge in Wonder Woman’s home, Themyscira, renowned for its wariness of outsiders, particularly men.

Our heroes are on the run following the Trinity of Evil's devastating attack on the fortress of Solitude! With Superman's headquarters in ruin and the super-powers on Planet Earth in the clutches of Amanda Waller, Failsafe, and the Brainiac Queen… is this the end of the line? No way — the resistance lives on! Using fortress technology cobbled together by Mr. Terrific and Air Wave, Earth's last hope have retreated to Themyscira, home to Wonder Woman and famously suspicious of outsiders. Can Superman, Batman, and the rest of the depowered heroes strike an alliance with these elite Amazonian fighters? All this, and a mad mayday from Barry Allen as DC's war for Absolute Power rages on! |
As the Fortress of Solitude lies in ruins from the onslaught of the Trinity of Evil, Themyscira stands as their last hope for sanctuary. Adding to the anticipation is a variant cover by Mike Deodato Jr. and João Canola, showcasing Wonder Woman in fierce combat against her newest adversary, the AMAZO-N.
AMAZO-N is not the official name for this new Wonder Woman villain, but rather this article's nickname for the currently unnamed villain.
Meet AMAZO-N: The Wonder Woman-Inspired AMAZO and Batman of Zur-En-Arrh Hybrid That Amanda Waller Controls
The AMAZO-N is one of the power-stealing Amazo robots in Amanda Waller’s new Task Force VII, modeled after Wonder Woman and specifically designed to take on the Amazon warrior. Like the other Amazos, the AMAZO-N is inhabited by the personality of one of the Zur-En-Arrh Batmen from across the Multiverse and is currently under Waller’s control. The combination of Amazo technology, Batman’s intelligence, and Waller’s ambitions makes this an exceptionally formidable foe, one that may truly have a chance of defeating Wonder Woman.
Mike Deodato Jr. and João Canola's variant cover offers a glimpse of the Wonder Woman vs. AMAZO-N battle that fans are eager to see unfold in Absolute Power. While the art is exceptionally stunning, it notably depicts Diana on the defensive rather than the offensive. In fact, Wonder Woman is nearly pressed into a backbend as she shields against the AMAZO-N's attack. The outcome of this fight doesn’t seem to be in Diana’s favor, but her struggle makes this new development exciting, as it teases a villain who might truly match Wonder Woman's might.

Forget Doomsday: Superman is Finally Getting A 'Fight To The Death' With A New Villain Who Deserves The Honor
Superman's newest adversary actually deserves the honor of killing the Man of Steel, unlike Doomsday, who was overrated from the very beginning.
Wonder Woman Was In Desperate Need of a New Villain Following Her Relationship Status Change With Cheetah
A new Wonder Woman villain couldn't have come at a better time, especially since Diana’s most iconic foe, Cheetah, has recently transitioned from adversary to ally in Tom King’s Wonder Woman #10. Among Diana’s rogues, Barbara is the closest to matching Wonder Woman in might and combat prowess. With the revival of Wonder Woman and Cheetah’s friendship and possible romance, the Amazon Princess has never been in such need of a worthy adversary. Therefore, the introduction of the AMAZO-N not only adds to the overarching narrative of Absolute Power but also fills a recent gap in Wonder Woman’s storyline.
