Why Voight Deserves A Romantic Storyline In Chicago PD Season 12

Chapman Can Help Voight Overcome His Inner Turmoil

There have been several romantic relationships in Chicago P.D., including Jay Halstead's romances with Erin Lindsay and Hailey Upton, along with Adam Ruzek and Dante Torres and Gloria Perez. However, Voight's never had a romantic storyline due to the show's consistent focus on him as a fearless leader and hard-boiled cop. Voight has always placed his care and for his unit first over himself, but season 12 may be his best opportunity for a romantic relationship after his talk with Chapman.

After the emotional turmoil Voight endured due to his near-death abduction at the end of last season, and Hailey (who Voight cared for like a daughter) leaving Chicago, the sergeant can use some emotional from someone like Chapman who wants to and ease his pain. Seeing Voight in a romantic storyline would be a significant development for his character because he hasn't been viewed this way before.

Chicago P.D. season 12 returns with episode 9 on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 10 pm ET on NBC.
