Throughout the course of Roz Walker have gone through a lot as friends, and given that they're the type to literally follow each other into hell if need be, it seems like their ride-or-die status is more than confirmed.
However, their friendship might not be all that it seems to be. Roz and Sabrina have certainly been to hell and back, but that doesn't mean that they're true blue friends. With that in mind, here are 10 reasons why Roz Walker and Sabrina Spellman aren't real friends.
Because Roz Loves Harvey
Let's be real, no one should ever let their romantic feelings for someone get in the way of their long, solid friendships. And to her credit, Roz has gone out of her way to avoid letting her feelings for Harvey affect her relationship with Sabrina.
However, that's kind of the problem. Roz is a great friend and doesn't want to upset Sabrina with her relationship with Harvey, except Roz is going out of her way to deny how she feels to make Sabrina feel better, which can never last.
Because Sabrina Loves Harvey
Despite her relationship with Nick, her flirtation with Caliban, and her own father's repulsive desire to make her his child bride, Sabrina's heart seems to be stuck on Harvey. No one can blame her for having feelings, but now that Harvey is with Roz that obviously complicates things.
And because Sabrina doesn't want to mess with their relationship, she's denying how she feels, but that is not a sustainable situation, and if she really had trust and faith in Roz as a friend she would be honest, even if it hurt.
Because Sabrina Wants To Protect The Squad
Sabrina might be an incredibly powerful when she is the one getting them into trouble) she wants to do whatever she can to protect them.
And the thing of it is, as long as they're friends with her they'll never really be safe, and at some point she is going to come to that realization and do something about it.
Because Roz Wants To Protect The Squad
Roz might not be as powerful as Sabrina, but she is definitely a pretty strong magician in her own right, and her cunning seems to be some form of protection against witches.
She has already used her strengths to protect her friends, Sabrina included, but as someone who sort of occupies the space between Sabrina's power level and Harvey and Theo's power level it's inevitable that she'll come to the same realization that Sabrina has to. Sabrina is a constant danger to her friends, and Roz will have a hard time tolerating that.
Because They Don't Trust Each Other With The Truth
Coming out and telling anyone that you have magical powers when you exist in a world where magic isn't even supposed to exist is no easy task. It's completely understandable that both Sabrina and Roz were reluctant to tell each other the truth.
But really, what is the point of having friends if you can't tell those friends who you really are? And how can you call someone a friend if they only see part of the complete person that you are?
Because Witches Cursed The Walkers
It's certainly a relief that the Spellman family wasn't the ones who cursed the Walkers with blindness, but honestly the revelation that witches and Walkers had some kind of blood feud going back for generations put an expiration date on Roz and Sabrina's friendship.
Maybe things could have been salvaged earlier on, but now that Sabrina is essentially the queen of all witches, the basic needs of Roz and her family are going to be at odds with the basic needs of Sabrina and the witches at some point.
Because Sabrina Will Use Magic On Roz
In all fairness to Sabrina, she has always used (or at least tried to use) her powers on her friends for benevolent reasons. And like most people, when she has the power to help them, she wants to help them.
However, her magical interference almost always goes wrong, and it's unfortunately a signal of a larger problem. Sabrina is willing to exert a level of control over her friends that is uncomfortable to see. She's willing to completely impose her will on them when she thinks she knows better, which shows a level of disrespect towards them that isn't okay for someone who calls herself their friend.
Because Roz Doesn't Know If Sabrina Is Good Or Bad
Realizing that your best friend since childhood is actually a witch has got to be a shock to anyone, and that coupled with the revelation that witches cursed your family with blindness which is now affecting you only magnifies that shock.
However, when Roz's grandmother asked her what she knew about Sabrina in her heart, initially Roz said she wasn't sure if Sabrina was good or bad. And... shouldn't that be a pretty easy question to answer for any real friend?
Because They Put Each Other In Danger
Sabrina's entire squad of friends has repeatedly proven themselves to be ride or die, which is irable. And in theory, that should go pretty far in proving that they're true friends, right? Well... no.
While their ability to rely on one another is the kind of deep friendship that everyone dreams of, the fact that Roz and Sabrina have either put each other in direct danger (by going off on a magical mission together) or indirect danger (by withholding incredibly important information from each other) goes to show that they value their own safety over the safety of their friends.
Because Sabrina Is Queen Of Hell
Over the course of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's three seasons so far, Sabrina Spellman has gone down a progressively darker and less human path, by her own choice in most instances.
However, her decision to become the queen of hell, even if she left a part of herself in her old life, seems to be a portent of doom for all of her human relationships, especially her relationship with Roz. If she's willing to leave her old life behind to become the leader of all evil, then clearly she doesn't care enough about her friends to give up her power.
